Visteon SmartCoreTM and GAC's collaboration is also the industry's first application of a domain controller integrating three different cockpit electronics domains in a mass-produced vehicle.
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 09, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Visteon, a global leader in automotive cockpit electronics technology, exhibited its latest intelligent integrated cockpit achievement at the 21st CES in 2020 - SmartCoreTM, a mass-produced cockpit domain controller based on the third-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit Platform. The product will soon be put into mass production on Aion LX, the first model of GAC's new pure electric platform.
Sachin Lawande, global president of Visteon, Zhong Xiangping, vice president of Tencent, and Wang Qiujing, director of GAC Research Institute, attended the launch ceremony of the new SmartCoreTM on behalf of their respective companies.
SmartCoreTM announced at this CES is also the latest answer from the three parties after they announced the development of autonomous driving technology and digital AI cockpit solutions at last year's CES. After more than a year of joint development, the three parties jointly developed the SmartCoreTM third-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon automotive cockpit platform based on their respective technical platform advantages and equipped it with Tencent Car Connect TAI automotive intelligent system.
The mature cockpit solution with SmartCoreTM as the core can bring leading car-machine experience, assist more vehicle manufacturers to provide more effective differentiated solutions, and is committed to helping automobile manufacturers enter the era of intelligent networking.
The mass production of GAC Aion LX marks the official launch of Visteon's SmartCoreTM domain controller platform project that integrates three cockpit domains. For the first time, the three cockpit domains of digital instrument, infotainment and body control interface are integrated together, and users can easily adjust the seat, exterior mirrors, air conditioning temperature and other functions with just a swipe of a finger.
The mass-produced SmartCoreTM is equipped with the core technology and capabilities of Tencent Auto Connect TAI intelligent vehicle system, and uses voice interaction as the main method to achieve efficient and emotional human-computer interaction and vehicle control. At the same time, the SmartCoreTM intelligent cockpit is infused with Tencent's rich content entertainment and car owner service ecosystem, and can combine travel scene characteristics and user interest preferences to achieve active service recommendations, bringing users a humane and ultimate digital experience.
As the industry's first mass-produced smart cockpit solution based on the third-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon automotive cockpit platform, it uses Qualcomm's new Snapdragon chip, which meets the powerful computing power and AI capabilities required by the new generation of cockpit electronic systems. Based on a powerful CPU and GPU, it can support up to 6 to 8 displays, assist in intelligent voice interaction, augmented reality and image processing, and provide hardware platform support for the realization of smart electronic cockpits.
"We are pleased to showcase the results of our collaboration with Tencent and GAC Research Institute on the smart cockpit," said Sachin. "GAC Aion LX represents the future of integrated digital cockpits, where a domain controller will drive multiple displays while providing higher computing power at lower energy consumption, which is particularly suitable for electric vehicles. In the trend of automotive technology change, Visteon will continue to provide solutions for cockpit digitization, centralized computing and autonomous driving, and this GAC Aion LX is the best example."
Wang Qiujing, president of GAC Research Institute, said: "GAC Group has been committed to becoming a mobile life value creator. In recent years, it has closely followed the development trend of the industry and made in-depth layout of intelligent network connection and new energy vehicle technology development. The ADiGO (Intelligent Driving Connectivity) ecosystem independently developed by GAC Research Institute perfectly integrates Visteon SmartCoreTM cockpit software architecture system, Tencent TAI automotive intelligent system and Qualcomm hardware platform, bringing car consumers a wonderful mobile life experience of smart travel, smart experience and smart services. The strategic cooperation with Visteon, Tencent and Qualcomm is a concrete action practice of GAC Research Institute's 'integrated innovation' strategy, and it is also a great exploration of a better mobile lifestyle in the future."
"Intelligent networking and autonomous driving have become the intersection of the information industry and the automotive industry," said Zhong Xiangping, vice president of Tencent. "Under this trend, Tencent, Visteon and GAC Research Institute have jointly explored the intelligent cockpit and autonomous driving of vehicles. Over the past year, the three parties have achieved gratifying results. Tencent hopes to gradually implement the concept of 'eco-connected car networking' in the products and services jointly developed with Visteon and GAC Research Institute, making the travel experience more humane and intelligent."
"As vehicle cockpits become more complex with richer infotainment and driver assistance features, reducing system complexity can minimize cost and energy consumption while maximizing system performance," said Shyam Krishnamurthy, senior director of product management at Qualcomm Technologies. "Qualcomm Technologies looks forward to continuing to work with Visteon to address complex challenges as we enter the era of electrification."
Visteon's cockpit domain control platform SmartCoreTM integrates multiple ECUs (electronic control units) in the smart cockpit into one controller, bringing advantages in safety, size, power consumption, weight and cost. Through seamless human-machine interaction based on the interconnected ecosystem, a first-class driving experience is achieved.
Visteon and its partners will continue to jointly develop and share results around digital cockpits, centralized computing and autonomous driving, and explore technological innovations in the field of cockpit electronics.
