According to foreign media reports, Continental has developed the first ultra-compact, high-performance HUD (Head-up Display). The development project is provided by Continental Engineering Services, its development and production service provider. This HUD is suitable for cockpits with limited installation space, such as sports car cockpits. It can display reliable visual information within the driver's field of vision. As we move towards automated driving, driving functions are increasingly transferred from the driver to the vehicle, including sports cars. In traffic jams, sports cars cannot use their power and flexibility, and this device improves driving safety and comfort at this time.

HUD is a standard feature in luxury series cars, but it has been difficult to implement due to the special space requirements of vehicles such as sports cars. Developers at Continental Engineering Services have significantly reduced the space occupied by the HUD by optimizing the image size visible to the driver on the windshield and changing the projection distance. "This compact HUD can display highly precise visual information on a slightly smaller projection area than in standard vehicles. With the reduced field of view, our new development is in line with the vehicle philosophy of most manufacturers," explains Dr. Christian Trapp, Senior Manager HUD at Continental Engineering Services.

With HUD, drivers can receive all relevant information directly in their field of vision, no matter where and when. While the driver's eyes are focused on the road, they can still read all important information, such as warning messages and speed limits. With its HUD product portfolio, Continental offers a key human-machine interaction technology that ensures safety and enables comfortable communication between people, vehicles and their surroundings.
