According to foreign media reports, on June 4, 2018, local time, Foresight Autonomous Holdings, an innovative company in automotive vision systems and V2X cellular mobile network solutions, announced that it has teamed up with the city of Ashdod and No Traffic to successfully complete a controlled trial of the Eye-Net accident prevention solution. The solution is based on the V2X cellular mobile network and is designed to provide collision alerts to pedestrians and vehicles in real time by using smartphones and relying on existing cellular mobile networks.
The experiment was conducted at a central intersection in Ashdod, Israel, in cooperation with NoTraffic, a company that develops urban traffic management systems based on a network of sensors deployed at intersections. The experiment was supervised by BWR (Blue and White Robotics) as part of the Ashdod Smart Mobility Living Lab project, and supported by the Ministry of Transport and Ayalon Highway. The experiment aims to integrate innovative technologies designed for smart cities while establishing a reliable communication channel between road users and smart infrastructure. During the experiment, Foresight tested the Eye-Net™ system in various situations and integrated it with the NoTraffic smart system installed at the intersection.
In the first part of the trial, several simulated accident scenarios involving vehicles and/or pedestrians were conducted. In all cases, all parties using the Eye-Net application installed on their mobile phones received real-time alerts to prevent collisions. The second part of the trial tested the integration of the Eye-Net system with NoTraffic's smart infrastructure system in an accident simulation scenario, in which only one vehicle was connected to the Eye-Net system. NoTraffic's system installed at the intersection uses smart sensors to identify unconnected drivers or pedestrians, and then transmits the information to the driver through the Eye-Net system to prevent a collision.
In all cases, Foresight pre-defined targets and indicators for the Eye-Net™ system to use when appropriate, allowing all road users to brake safely and promptly. During the test, information is transmitted in real time to the control center on site, and the location and time of the simulated collision are displayed on a map, as well as the classification of the relevant road users.
