According to foreign media reports, a new patent that Ford Motor Company applied for to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) was recently exposed. The patent is mainly about the technology of transforming car wheels into unicycles.
As early as last June, Ford submitted the above patent application, which is called "Motorized unicycle that can be connected to a car." According to the patent document, any one of the four wheels of the car can be removed and then transformed into an electric-powered unicycle.
An electric motor is installed in the wheel hub of the unicycle to drive the car forward, which also means that the car itself must be an electric car and is equipped with an electric motor in each wheel hub.
To use a wheelbarrow in real life, you would park the car in an area, lock the suspension and lift the vehicle with a jack, then remove the left rear wheel, unplug the power and data cables, and connect them to the wheelbarrow mechanism.
The electric unicycle is equipped with a battery pack, suspension system, sensor and electronic control unit, as well as pedals, seats and armrests to ensure normal driving.
Ford pointed out that this wheelbarrow can be applied to almost all models of vehicles. However, analysts believe that although the patent applied by Ford shows the creativity of efficient and diversified transportation methods, it only remains at the theoretical level. It will take time to verify whether this technology can be accepted by the public.
