Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation publicly solicited opinions on two proposed national standards for sodium-ion batteries. The two standards are "Technical Specifications for Sodium-ion Batteries and Battery Packs for Electric Energy Storage Systems" and "Safety Technical Specifications for Sodium-ion Batteries and Battery Packs for Electric Energy Storage Systems". They are under the jurisdiction of 339-1 (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (Electronics)), and the competent department is the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (Electronics). The main drafting units are: China Electronics Technology Standardization Institute, Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd., Shenzhen BYD Lithium Battery Co., Ltd.
"Technical Specifications for Sodium Ion Batteries and Battery Packs for Electric Energy Storage Systems": This document specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test methods, quality assessment and labeling, packaging, transportation and storage of sodium ion batteries and battery packs for electric energy storage systems. This document applies to sodium storage batteries and battery packs for electric energy storage systems (hereinafter referred to as batteries and battery packs). The applications of electric energy storage systems include but are not limited to: a) telecommunications; b) central emergency lighting and alarm systems; c) stationary engine starting; d) photovoltaic systems; e) home (residential) energy storage systems (HESS); f) large-capacity energy storage. The above-listed electric energy storage systems do not include all equipment, so unlisted equipment may also be included in the scope of this document.
"Safety Technical Specifications for Sodium Ion Batteries and Battery Packs for Electric Energy Storage Systems": This standard specifies the safety requirements for sodium ion batteries and battery packs for electric energy storage systems, including environmental safety, electrical safety and other requirements for batteries, battery packs, protection circuits, etc. This standard applies to sodium ion batteries and battery packs for electric energy storage systems (hereinafter referred to as batteries and battery packs).
