On March 25th local time, the construction of the 150MW/300MWh energy storage project in Lochi, Andijan, Uzbekistan, China's largest single electrochemical energy storage project invested by China Energy Construction Gezhouba Haitou Company and constructed by Central South Institute of Energy Engineering, started.

The project is China's largest single electrochemical energy storage project invested overseas, the first foreign-invested grid-side electrochemical energy storage project started in Uzbekistan, and China Energy Engineering's first overseas energy storage investment project.

The project is located in Andijan Oblast, about 10 kilometers away from Asaka City, with a plant area of about 6 hectares and a planned total investment of US$140 million. The project uses electrochemical energy storage lithium iron phosphate cells and is equipped with a 150MW/300MWh energy storage system. It is connected to the 220kV side of the Rocky Substation through a newly built 220kV booster station and a 220kV double-circuit transmission and substation line with a length of about 6.1 kilometers.

The project is scheduled to be put into commercial operation in December 2024. It will create more than 300 jobs during the construction period. After completion, it will provide Uzbekistan's power grid with 2.19 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity regulation capacity, making the power supply more stable, safer and more sufficient, and injecting new vitality into the local economic and people's livelihood development.
