TI's new precision, wide-bandwidth ADC improves data acquisition performance while halving size and power consumption
Engineers can achieve industry-leading AC and DC performance while increasing channel density and extending battery life
Beijing (December 7, 2021) – Texas Instruments (TI) now offers an ultra-small 24-bit wide-bandwidth analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that achieves industry-leading signal measurement accuracy over a wider bandwidth than similar ADCs. The ADS127L11 is a new addition to TI's precision wide-bandwidth ADC family. Its package size is 50% smaller, enabling ultra-precise data acquisition and significantly optimizing power consumption, resolution and measurement bandwidth in a variety of industrial system applications.
“In applications such as test and measurement equipment and portable medical devices, reducing solution size and power consumption is a major trend, while extending battery life is also imperative,” said Noman Akhtar, senior research analyst at Omdia. “Data throughput and bandwidth need to be increased as quickly as possible, while power consumption and size need to be reduced.”
Capture high-resolution signals with 50% more bandwidth or 25% less latency
The ADS127L11 is designed with high flexibility to optimize ADC performance in a variety of industrial systems and achieve tailored high-performance data acquisition through wide bandwidth and low-latency filter options. Designers can use wide bandwidth mode to improve AC measurement resolution and minimize high-frequency noise. Compared with similar data converters, bandwidth can be increased by 50%, signal-to-noise ratio can be improved by 30%, and data throughput can be up to 400 kSPS. In low-latency mode, the ADS12711 can reduce latency by 25% (up to 1,067 kSPS) and temperature drift by 83.3% (50 nV/℃), helping designers improve DC measurement resolution, data throughput, and reaction time for data acquisition and regulation monitoring applications.
Reduce ADC package size by 50%
Until now, designers of small, battery-powered industrial equipment have had to make a trade-off between ADC size and measurement accuracy when faced with higher frequencies. With the ADS127L11, this trade-off is no longer necessary. This single-channel device is available in a 3mm x 3mm quad flat no-lead (WQFN) package, which is 50% smaller than competing ADCs. In addition to reducing design size, the new ADC helps designers pack more channels into a compact design, increasing system functionality. 50% lower power consumption, longer battery run time
The ADS127L11 consumes half the power of other similar ADCs, and the device's scalable power modes enable better power optimization for system designs such as portable electroencephalographs (EEGs) and power quality analyzers while meeting bandwidth requirements. With power consumption as low as 3.3 mW and sampling rates as high as 50 kSPS, signal resolution and battery life are improved. Packaging and availability
The ADS127L11 is available on TI.com.cn in 20-pin 3mm x 3mm WQFN and 20-pin 6.5mm x 4.4mm TSSOP packages, with a minimum order of 1,000 pieces. Evaluation modules are also available on TI.com.cn. TI.com.cn offers a variety of convenient payment and delivery options.
