EPROM, What is EPROM

EPROM (Erasable Programmable ROM) chips can be repeatedly erased and written, which solves the problem that PROM chips can only be written once. EPROM chips have a very obvious feature. There is a glass window on the front ceramic package. Through the window, you can see the integrated circuit inside. Ultraviolet rays can be irradiated through the hole to the internal chip to erase the data inside. An EPROM eraser is required to complete the chip erasure operation. The data in the EPROM must be written with a dedicated programmer, and a certain programming voltage must be added when writing content to the chip (VPP=12-24V, depending on the chip model). The EPROM model starts with 27, such as 27C020 (8*256K) is a 2M Bits EPROM chip. After writing data to the EPROM chip, the window must be sealed with an opaque sticker or tape to prevent the data from being damaged by the surrounding ultraviolet rays.
