How to use a soldering iron

There are three ways to hold a soldering iron: 1) Reverse grip, which is to hold the handle of the soldering iron in your palm with five fingers. This method is suitable for high-power soldering irons and soldering parts with large heat dissipation.

2) Positive grip method: the soldering iron used in this method is also relatively large, and most of them have a curved soldering iron tip.

3) Pen-holding method: This method is suitable for low-power soldering irons and for welding parts with small heat dissipation, such as welding printed circuit boards of radios and televisions and their repairs.

4. Requirements for the use of electric soldering iron

1. Treatment of new soldering iron before use A new soldering iron cannot be used right away. The tip must be treated before normal use, that is, a layer of solder should be plated on the tip before use. The specific method is: first use a file to file the tip into a certain shape as needed, then connect the power supply, when the temperature of the tip rises to the point where tin can be melted, apply rosin on the tip, wait for the rosin to smoke, and then apply a layer of solder. Repeat this two to three times, so that an oxide layer will form on the blade surface of the tip and its surroundings, which will make it difficult to "eat tin". At this time, the oxide layer can be filed off and solder can be plated again.

2. Adjustment of the length of the soldering iron tip When soldering integrated circuits and transistors, the temperature of the soldering iron tip should not be too high, and the time should not be too long. At this time, the length of the soldering iron tip inserted on the soldering iron core can be appropriately adjusted to control the temperature of the soldering iron tip.

3. There are two types of soldering iron tips: straight and bent. When using the pen-holding method, the straight soldering iron tip is more flexible to use. It is suitable for soldering in circuits with more components. The bent soldering iron tip is more suitable for the straight holding method, and is mostly used for soldering when the circuit board is vertical on the desktop.

4. The soldering iron should not be left powered on for a long time without being used, as this will easily accelerate the oxidation of the soldering iron core and burn out. At the same time, the soldering iron tip will oxidize due to long-term heating, or even burn "to death" and no longer "absorb tin".

5. When replacing the soldering iron core, be careful not to connect the leads incorrectly, because the soldering iron has three terminals, one of which is grounded, and the other two are connected to the two leads of the soldering iron core (these two terminals are directly connected to the 220V AC power supply through the power cord). If the 220V AC power cord is connected to the grounding terminal by mistake, the soldering iron shell will be electrified, and the welded part will also be electrified, which will cause an electric shock accident.

When soldering with an electric soldering iron, it is best to use rosin flux to protect the soldering iron tip from corrosion. The soldering iron should be placed on a soldering iron stand. It should be handled with care and never rust the solder on the soldering iron.

1. It is better to use an adjustable constant temperature soldering iron; 2. When using it for the first time, the soldering iron tip must be "tinned"; 3. When the soldering iron is not in use, a certain amount of tin must be kept on the soldering iron tip. Do not clean the soldering iron tip on a sponge and then store it on the soldering iron rack; 4. The sponge must maintain a certain amount of moisture to keep the sponge moist all day; 5. When you pick up the soldering iron and start using it, you need to clean the soldering iron tip, but during use, you do not need to clean the soldering iron tip on a sponge. Just put the tin on the soldering iron tip into a tin collection cardboard box to keep the temperature of the soldering iron tip from dropping rapidly. If there is still difficulty in extracting tin from the IC, add some tin (because the tin wire contains flux), and you can easily extract more tin; 6. The soldering iron temperature is between 340 and 380 degrees for normal conditions. If some sensitive components can only accept a soldering temperature of 240 to 280 degrees; 7. If the soldering iron tip is hot, do not use metal devices such as blades to handle it. Instead, use rosin or tin wire to solve it. 8. After use every day, clean it first, then add enough tin, and then cut off the power supply immediately.
