High Gain GPS LNA Amplifier
Avago Technologies (Avago Technologies) announced the launch of the latest product in the Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) series, a high-gain low noise amplifier with variable current and shutdown functions suitable for GPS, unlicensed industrial, scientific and medical (ISM, Industrial, Scientific and Medical) frequency bands and WiMax applications. Avago's compact MGA-231T6 provides ultra-low noise figure and high linearity, which helps to significantly improve the sensitivity of GPS receivers. The target market for this low noise amplifier is mobile phones with GPS functions, GPS receivers for entertainment and navigation, and GPS antenna products. Avago is a leading manufacturer of analog interface components for applications in communications, industry and consumer.
Available in a compact 2.0mm x 1.3mm x 0.4mm package, Avago's MGA-231T6 requires only 4 to 5 external matching components, effectively saving the required printed circuit board space and the number of devices used in the design, helping design engineers develop a new generation of GPS applications with more features and more compactness to meet the growing needs of consumers. The MGA-231T6 low-noise amplifier uses Avago's unique GaAs enhancement mode pHEMT process technology to achieve high gain and ultra-low noise figure, while the distribution of the noise figure is also strictly controlled, and provides a CMOS level compatible shutdown control pin to start or shut down the amplifier and adjust the current.
The low noise figure and high gain combined with low power consumption make the MGA-231T6 ideal for critical low power GPS or low battery applications.
