LEDs were produced as early as the 1960s. In the 1980s, they were widely used in household electrical appliances, such as audio volume indicators and switch indicators. In the 1990s, some new domestic automobile instruments also used LEDs, mainly for charging indicators. Later, they also displayed the engine speed. For example, on a combination instrument produced in Xiangfan, Hubei, there is a row of LEDs next to the odometer. When the driver steps on the accelerator, the LED lights light up from bottom to top, and when the accelerator is released, the LED lights go out from top to bottom, which is quite eye-catching. In the mid-1990s, my country used LEDs as high-mounted brake lights and installed them on cars. Because LEDs light up quickly, they can let the drivers of the cars behind know the driving conditions of the vehicles in front as soon as possible, reducing the occurrence of rear-end collisions.

Classification of LED car lights: Mainly divided into external lamps and internal lamps. Common lamps include: headlights, turn signals, taillights, fog lights, reversing taillights, etc. The following introduces the maintenance and use of each main lamp one by one.

Generally, if the light is off, it means the bulb has burned out and must be replaced. However, if it is not completely broken, but the brightness is reduced, the light is red and dim, you must not take it lightly, because this may be a precursor to a malfunction, and reduced lighting capacity is also a major hidden danger to safe driving.

There are several reasons for the reduction of brightness. The most common one is that the light-scattering glass or reflector of the lamp is covered with dirt. In this case, all you need to do is to clean the dirt with flannel or lens paper. Another reason is that the battery charging capacity is reduced, and the power is insufficient, resulting in insufficient brightness. In this case, you need to replace the battery. Another possibility is that the line is aging or the wire is too thin, causing the resistance to increase and thus affecting the power supply. This situation not only affects the work of the bulb, but in severe cases, it may even cause the line to heat up and cause a fire.

Maintenance methods of various types of car lights:

  Headlight:

Generally speaking, friends who often drive at night should consider replacing a pair of headlights with higher brightness, so that in the dark night, sufficient brightness can help you see all the details of the road, and when the high beam is on, you can see farther. If conditions permit, you can even replace a pair of xenon headlights (HID). Xenon lamps are not only bright enough and have a long life, but also have a feature: a very high color temperature, which is close to the color temperature of daylight and is also a kind of protection for the driver's eyes.

  Tail lights:

Don't underestimate the taillights. If the taillights fail, it is very easy to cause a rear-end collision. Generally speaking, as long as there is no failure, there are not many options for upgrading the taillights. In addition to installing a transparent lamp shell to increase the ornamental effect, replacing traditional bulbs with LED light sources is a good choice. LEDs not only have higher brightness, but also have shorter response times than traditional bulbs. This means that when you step on the brake pedal, the LED brake lights can light up earlier than ordinary bulbs, giving the following vehicles more preparation time.

  Fog lights:

Fog lamps are also called spotlights. As the name implies, the main purpose of fog lamps is to ensure the driver's sight in bad weather and ensure that others can see you. However, many manufacturers now install fog lamps just to make the front bumper more beautiful, so the quality of the fog lamps they choose is relatively poor. Like headlights, in addition to replacing fog lamps with sufficient brightness, choosing a pair of HID xenon fog lamps is also a good choice.

  Reverse taillights:

Reversing at night is a real headache, especially for drivers with poor eyesight. The weak light of the original reversing lights is not much help. At this time, you need a pair of reversing taillights, which are independent lights installed in the middle or below the rear bumper. They will light up automatically when you put the car in reverse gear. Its strong brightness makes you no longer have to worry about reversing at night.
