Primary optical design of LED light source
Each LED light source has a specific light intensity distribution characteristic, that is, the light distribution curve. We call this process primary optical design. In most cases, the light distribution curve of LED light sources is Lambertian, that is, the angular intensity changes with the angle in a cosine distribution:

The coordination between the primary light distribution and the secondary optical design of the LED light source is very critical. To facilitate the design of the secondary light source lens, a light source that does not change the light emission law of the original chip, that is, an LED light source with a Lambo-type light emission characteristic, will be used as much as possible.
Secondary Optical Design of LED Light Source
Generally speaking, the light output angle and light intensity distribution of the LED light source itself cannot meet the application conditions under characteristic conditions, so it is necessary to perform secondary light distribution to change the light output of the light source to meet the actual application requirements.
The main functions of secondary optical design are generally of the following three types:
1. Dispersion: Disperse the light emitted by the LED light source to form a larger angle to achieve a more uniform light spot on the receiving screen (plane) (such as ceiling lights, direct-type TV backlight lenses, etc.).
2. Convergence: Concentrate the light from the LED light source into a smaller range to increase the central luminous intensity (such as spotlights, stage lights, etc.).
