The basic structure of the power grid dispatching automation system includes three parts: control center, master station system, plant terminal (RTU) and information channel. According to the different functions completed, this system can be divided into information collection and execution subsystem, information transmission subsystem, information processing subsystem and human-computer contact subsystem.

The basic function of the information collection and execution subsystem is to collect various real-time information representing the operating status of the power system in each power plant and substation. In addition, this system is also responsible for receiving and executing the operation, adjustment or control commands issued by the superior dispatching control center.

The information transmission subsystem provides a bridge for information exchange between the information collection and execution subsystem and the dispatching control center. Its core is the data channel, which is connected to the RTU and the main station front-end through a modem.

The information processing subsystem is the core of the entire dispatching automation system, with electronic computers as the main component. This subsystem contains a large number of computer application software directly facing the dispatching and operation personnel of the power grid, completing various processing and analysis calculations of the collected information, and even realizing the automatic control and operation of power equipment.

The human-machine interface subsystem processes all kinds of information transmitted to the dispatch control center and provides dispatchers with complete and practical real-time information of the power system through various display devices, printing devices and other output devices. The remote control and remote adjustment commands issued by dispatchers are also input through this system and transmitted to the actuator.
