One diode makes fluorescent lamps start quickly at low temperatures
Ordinary fluorescent lamps are difficult to start at voltages of 200-170V or in winter. If a diode is added to the fluorescent lamp circuit as shown in Figure 4-46 (a), the lamp can start quickly even if the voltage drops to 170V in winter. In Figure 4-46 (a), VD is a 2CP or 2CZ silicon rectifier diode, which requires a withstand voltage of more than 400V and a rated current of more than 1A. 1N4006 silicon rectifier diodes can also be used. VD connected in series in the starter circuit acts as a half-wave rectifier, which reduces the inductive reactance of the ballast, thereby increasing the circuit current, which also increases the preheating current of the filament, the preheating current generated by the filament, and the number of hot electrons generated by the filament, so that the lamp is easy to start. When the diode VD is not connected in series, the starter needs to flash 2 to 4 times at low voltage to start; after VD is connected in series, the starter can ignite the lamp with one flash.

Classification of crystal diodes
1. Classification by structure Semiconductor diodes mainly work by relying on PN junctions. Point contact type and Schottky type, which are inseparable from PN junctions, are also included in the scope of general diodes. Including these two types, according to the characteristics of PN structure, crystal diode

How to use a multimeter to identify the positive and negative poles of a rectifier diode
Use diode gear If the red test lead is connected to the positive pole of the diode and the black test lead is connected to the negative pole of the diode, the meter will show the forward voltage drop of the diode. Different diodes have different values ranging from 0.3V to 0.7V. If the black test lead is connected

Analysis of Schottky DC/DC converter diodes in power management
Any non-synchronous DC/DC converter requires a so-called freewheeling diode . To optimize the overall efficiency of the solution, a low forward voltage Schottky diode is often preferred. Many designs use a diode recommended by a converter design (web) tool . This is not always the best choice of diode. Moreover, if th
