MCU (Micro Controller Unit), also known as Single Chip Microcomputer, or MCU for short, refers to a chip-level computer that integrates the computer's CPU, RAM, ROM, timer and multiple I/O interfaces on a single chip with the emergence and development of large-scale integrated circuits. MCU can be divided into two types according to its memory type: ROM-free type and ROM-within type. For chips without ROM-within type, an external EPROM must be connected to use (typical chip is 8031). Chips with ROM-within type are further divided into EPROM-within type (typical chip is 87C51), MASK ROM-within type (typical chip is 8051), FLASH-within type (typical chip is 89C51), etc. CPU is the abbreviation of Central Processing Unit, which can be referred to as microprocessor, but is often directly called processor. Don't ignore its role because of these abbreviations. The CPU is the core of the computer. It is as important as the brain to a person, because it is responsible for processing and calculating all the data inside the computer, while the motherboard chipset is more like the heart, which controls the exchange of data. The type of CPU determines the operating system and corresponding software you use. The CPU is mainly composed of an arithmetic unit, a controller, a register group and an internal bus. It is the core of the PC, and is equipped with a storage, an input/output interface and a system bus to form a complete PC (personal computer). The register group is used to store operands and intermediate data after the instruction is executed, and the arithmetic unit completes the calculations and operations specified by the instruction.
