Create a new project in MPLAB X IDE. As a rule of thumb, header files are usually placed in a folder named h, and source files are placed in a folder named src, as shown in the figure below. When compiling here, an error as shown in the title will be reported.

MPLAB X IDE Version: v5.10


Compiler: xc16-gcc v1.20


 


Solution

1. Open the menu file project properties, and the project properties dialog box pops up. Click XC16 and edit Common include dirs.

2. Add .. and . directories. These two paths represent: h folder of the previous directory and the current directory.

3. Click the OK button.
