Problem Description
I recently found a problem when using MDK5. Let's take a look at the existing MDK version information:
When opening an MDK4 version project with MDK5, a window "Using an MDK Version 4 Project" will usually pop up:
This is an MDK version 4 project ,require Device support for Cortex-M based devices.
Solution
Two solutions are prompted in this window: Migrate to Device Pack and Install Legacy Support.
I tried the first method first. After entering, I checked the devices that could be found, but when I compiled, many errors were reported.
So choose the second method to install Legacy support for ARM Cortex-M devices.
MDK Version 5 uses Software Packs to support a microcontroller device and to use middleware. To maintain backward compatibility with MDK Version 4 you may install Legacy Support. This might be necessary for two reasons:
To maintain projects created with MDK Version 4 without migrating to Software Packs.
To use older devices that are not supported by a Device Family Pack.

After opening the webpage, click the download link on the left, as shown below:
Download the compatibility package shown above and install it directly to your MDK5 installation directory.
