Source: InternetPublisher:通通 Keywords: IoT STM32 Updated: 2021/12/28

What is an STM32 system chip? What does it do? Promoting the sustainable development of the world through smart infrastructure and logistics, smart industry and smart life, STMicroelectronics (STMicroelectronics, referred to as ST) is the world's leading semiconductor supplier across multiple electronic applications. ; NYSE:STM) showcased the world's first LoRa® system-on-a-chip (SoC) that connects smart devices to the Internet of Things (IoT) via long-range wireless technology.

STM32 system chip worth knowing about

The STM32WLE5 system-on-chip enables product developers to create devices such as remote environmental sensors, meters, trackers and process controllers to help enterprises effectively manage energy and resource usage.

The SoC combines STMicroelectronics' ultra-low-power STM32 microcontroller design technology with LoRa-compatible RF technology in an easy-to-use, monolithic product. The radio frequency power management architecture, with multiple patents pending, will ensure the unique performance of STM32WLE5. STMicroelectronics' LoRaWAN wireless network communication software has passed all regional certifications and can be used worldwide.

Ricardo De Sa Earp, general manager of STMicroelectronics' Microcontroller Division, said: "Our new STM32 wireless system chip expands the existing STM32W wireless MCU product line, simplifying new product development while saving bill of materials costs, and Maximizing system reliability and energy efficiency. In addition, by porting existing embedded designs to STM32WLE5, developers can easily introduce wireless connectivity and take full advantage of the STM32 MCU architecture."

STMicroelectronics' 10-year rolling lifecycle guarantee for industrial products is committed to supporting STM32WLE5 users.

The STM32WLE5 comes in a 5mm x 5mm UFBGA73 package and fully supports the market-proven STM32 ecosystem, including STM32Cube software tools, as well as the certified and globally accepted LoRaWAN software stack and source code. Technical details:

The integrated radio frequency module on the chip is based on the Semtech SX126x IP core and has two transmission modes of high and low power, covering the global open frequency band of 150MHz-960MHz below 1GHz, ensuring that the module is compatible with LoRa networks in all regions. As a result, OEMs can deploy STM32WLE5 to all global markets, ensuring technical compatibility and helping to improve operational efficiency and customer support services. The receiving sensitivity is as low as -148 dBm, and it integrates two power amplifiers with a maximum of 15dBm. In the same package, the maximum transmit power can reach 22dBm, thus maximizing the wireless communication distance.

In addition to embedded LoRa modulation technology, the STM32WLE5 is also able to handle (G)FSK, (G)MSK and BPSK modulation methods, thus allowing developers to use a variety of alternative protocols, including proprietary protocols. In addition, high RF performance and low power consumption ensure the reliability of wireless connections and extend battery life.

The microcontroller leverages STMicroelectronics’ STM32L4 architecture, which is based on the Arm® Cortex®-M4 core supporting the DSP extended instruction set and offers ultra-low-power technologies including dynamic voltage scaling and STMicroelectronics’ zero-wait execution flash memory ART Accelerator™, adaptive real-time acceleration technology for code.

Sufficient on-chip flash memory is available in 64KB, 128KB and 256KB capacities, allowing developers to select the optimal code and data storage capacity for the entire platform, including applications and RF.

Users also benefit from the STM32L4 microcontroller’s built-in data security features, including hardware public key accelerator (PKA), hardware random number generator (TRNG), sector read and write protection (PCROP) and support for the most advanced Encryption Algorithm. The above is the analysis of the STM32 system chip, I hope it can help you.
