The following problems occur when using STM8 for single-step debugging:
Sometimes the following error message appears: Error:swim error[30007]:swim communication error, as shown below:
Sometimes the following error message appears: Error: swim error [30004]: comm timeout, as shown below:
Cause: A hardware watchdog was set during the development process, causing the watchdog to reset as soon as the program is entered.
Solution: Modify the option byte and set it as software watchdog.
Lessons learned: Do not enable the hardware watchdog during single-step debugging in the future.
