According to the latest announcement from Suzhou Industrial Park on February 16, from 0:00 to 24:00 on February 15, Suzhou had 18 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1 asymptomatic infection.

  • 9 cases were staff members of Bosideng Technology Company

 

According to a report by Xinhuanet on the morning of February 16, as of 24:00 on the 15th, Suzhou had reported a total of 26 confirmed cases of the "2.13" novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic and 5 asymptomatic infections. As of 7:00 on the 16th, 20 places in the city were medium-risk areas. An epidemic broke out in Suzhou, Jiangsu, with a serious epidemic in Suzhou Industrial Park. Many confirmed cases came from the park, affecting many well-known companies. Suzhou is a major production center for the global semiconductor industry. Due to epidemic control, some companies have been forced to suspend production activities, which is likely to affect shipments in the future.

On February 14, German auto parts supplier Bosch told Reuters, "We expect Bosch's manufacturing and post-production operations in Suzhou to be hit in the short term."

 

On February 14, Taiwan's United Microelectronics Corporation announced that its 8-inch wafer manufacturer subsidiary, Hejian Chip Co., Ltd. located in Suzhou Industrial Park, had temporarily suspended production because one of its employees was suspected of being infected.

 

Another Taiwanese semiconductor company, King Yuan Electronics, also temporarily stopped production at its subsidiary, Kinglong Technology, located in Suzhou Industrial Park, due to the epidemic. King Yuan said on February 14 that its subsidiary, Kinglong Technology, was conducting a full-staff test and that production activities were gradually suspended due to personnel disruptions.

 

On February 14, Zhongying Electronics, a company specializing in the design and sale of single-chip integrated circuits, also issued an announcement stating that due to the temporary suspension of production by suppliers Hejian Chip and Jinglong Technology, the company's product production may be affected. As for the extent of the impact, it depends mainly on when Hejian and other companies resume work. Zhongying Electronics stated that "if Hejian is unable to resume work due to the epidemic, it will have a significant impact on the company's production and operations."
