Make full use of Nidec machine tool's gear processing technology
Takisawa Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Nidec Group, has developed the "TS-4000ⅡYS", a CNC compound lathe that pursues high precision and high rigidity. This model is designed to meet the needs of high-precision processing, automation, and labor-saving for the best-selling "TS series" with cumulative shipments exceeding 1,000 units, and the structure has been fundamentally re-examined. In addition, as an intensive machine with an increasing demand for intensive high-precision gear processing processes, we have jointly developed a turret lathe that integrates gear manufacturing processes such as turning, cutting, and chamfering with Nidec Machine Tools, which has gear processing technology.
The machine will be unveiled at the Japan International Machine Tool Show (JIMTOF2024) to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from November 5 to 10. As a demonstration of the development concept, hobbing of outer diameter gears and spline shafts using motor shafts will be demonstrated.
In order to achieve stable processing accuracy, the newly developed CNC compound lathe "TS-4000ⅡYS" has updated the main parts of the machine to ensure sufficient rigidity. In particular, in terms of thermal countermeasures that have a great impact on accuracy, by optimizing spindle cooling and using AI technology for thermal displacement correction functions, a new motor is adopted to suppress heat generation. In addition, in order to achieve long-term stable processing at high-speed rotation, the shape of the bed and the structure of the tool holder have been redesigned to improve the mechanical rigidity.
This time, in addition to the traditional turning and milling processes, we have also prepared special tool configurations and interactive software required for gear processing for the newly developed high-precision gear processing specifications. Specifically, we have jointly developed with Nidec Machine Tools the input items such as workpiece parameters, tool specifications, and processing conditions, which emphasize compatibility with the gear hobbing machine, can be input intuitively according to the guide map, and retain the synchronous control mechanism of the left and right spindles of the workpiece (processed object) and the gear hobbing cutter, as well as the deburring tool. By utilizing the company's expertise and know-how in gear processing, a high-reliability lathe with technical support that can perform high-precision gear processing has been completed, which can more easily integrate processes.
In addition, the machine is equipped with a 15-angle tower that increases the milling speed to 8000 min-1 as standard, and the CNC operation panel is enlarged to a 15-inch color screen for easy operation, and is equipped with two operation panel height options of 1600mm and 1700mm. At the same time, it also has a function to control the power of servo motors and lighting when the machine is in standby mode, which helps to contribute to energy saving and can reduce power consumption by 2% compared to existing models.
Going forward, TAKISAWA will continue to work closely with the various machine tool companies within the Nidec Group, leveraging the group’s synergy to develop new technologies and products that stand out from the crowd.
