In recent years, as people's attention to food safety issues such as food poisoning incidents and norovirus has continued to increase, the market's demand for safety in food machinery (candy and bakery manufacturing machinery, food-grade meat processing machinery, packaging machinery, etc.) and even the reducers used in them has also continued to increase. In the manufacturing of food and medicines, robots and factory automation equipment (FA) have been introduced in many processes such as stirring, mixing, crushing, filling, handling and alignment, so the safety requirements for the reducers used are also becoming higher and higher.

In order to meet such market demands, the VR reducer developed by Nidec Shinpo for food machinery adopts NSF H1 grade lubricant (lubricant allowed for use in areas that may accidentally come into contact with food), the global standard for lubricants for food machinery, and can be installed in the drive part of food machinery.

The outer dimensions of this reducer are the same as the standard specifications of the current VR series reducer, and it can be easily replaced with the standard reducer without changing the design of the device side. In terms of performance, the internal lubricant is filled with food-grade lubricant for NSF H1 level, but the maximum torque output is 80% of the standard model. In addition, the material of the output shaft can be optionally equipped with a stainless steel shaft specification with excellent rust prevention function, which can also be used in food machinery with strict rust prevention requirements such as high humidity environments.
