Bluetooth Low Energy/Cellular IoT Smartwatch Enables Remote Care and SOS Alerts
DaTeng Industrial's Link2Care smartwatch DA13700 uses Nordic nRF52832 SoC and nRF9160 SiP for wireless connectivity
OSLO, Norway – October 26, 2022 – Hong Kong-based microelectronics company DaTeng Industries has launched a new wearable solution that connects to the Internet and supports telemedicine/remote care applications through an open platform.
The Link2Care Smart Watch DA13700 measures 38 x 12 mm and features a three-dimensional motion sensor for activity logging, inactivity reminders, sleep monitoring, and fall detection. By pressing the "SOS" button, users can send an SOS alert message with their health information (including name, gender, age, blood type, and any drug allergies) and location, which can be sent to a predefined mobile phone number and uploaded to a cloud server and service center for emergency help.
Nordic’s nRF52832 SoC provides Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, which is used to pass incoming calls, calendar appointments, messages, social media notifications, etc. between the user’s smartphone and the Link2Care smartwatch DA13700. In addition, this SoC provides mesh networking capabilities, indoor location tracking beacon profiles, and NFC support.
Nordic's nRF9160 SiP provides the device with LTE-M/NB-IoT cellular network connectivity and GNSS, which can report the wearer's location and SOS alerts to designated caregivers. In addition, more information can be uploaded to the cloud and customer service centers via cellular networks, including sleep/activity statistics and health data such as daily steps/distance and calories burned.
The Link2Care Smart Watch DA13700 uses a 110 mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which provides up to five days of battery standby time and one SOS alarm per day , depending on usage . This low power advantage is all due to the ultra-low power consumption characteristics of the Nordic nRF52832 SoC and nRF9160 SiP.
Tony Chung, Sales and Marketing Manager of DaTeng Industrial Co., Ltd. said: "DaTeng is one of Nordic's strategic partners and we have always received excellent technical support from Nordic."
