Beijing, China – September 9, 2021 – Mendix, a Siemens business, the global leader in enterprise low-code application development, today announced powerful new platform capabilities to accelerate the delivery of high-value solutions for the digital economy at the Mendix World 2021 conference, the largest online event for low-code people. The new capabilities include event-driven architecture, new investments in AI for makers and end users, and next-generation intelligent services and workflows, enabling makers to create the next generation of intelligent solutions for the enterprise.

Data Hub 2.0 introduces business events

One of the highlights of Johan den Haan's release at the Mendix World conference was the new features of Data Hub. At last year's conference, Mendix launched the low-code integration center Data Hub. The new features launched this year greatly expand the platform's ability to discover, create and change data from any system or application. The enhanced data cataloging function makes it easier to connect, filter and utilize massive data in different platforms, data lakes and cross-enterprise data warehouses.

In addition, den Haan announced another major product addition, the launch of business events. As a searchable entity in its catalog, business events will be upgraded to native plug-and-play elements that can be used in any application model in Studio Pro. The new business event feature makes it easier for Mendix developers to deliver applications, especially for use cases where end-user satisfaction is very important, such as new customer onboarding, payment processing, and ticket support.

Mendix also announced a new Data Hub connector framework that provides mechanisms to easily connect to off-the-shelf and custom data sources across the enterprise. Key connectors highlighted by den Haan include common data sources across industries such as Dropbox, Slack, Microsoft Sharepoint, Dynamics, Twilio and Salesforce. In addition, Mendix's dedicated connections to SAP and Siemens Teamcenter data sources in some industries were announced at the conference.

AI Development vs AI Applications

The second day of Mendix World saw the release of two AI-related updates, highlighting the groundbreaking capabilities of the Mendix low-code platform for rapid application development at scale. Johan den Haan first introduced the third robot in the Mendix Assist suite: Page Bot. Page Bot is based on the patterns learned by Mendix developers from hundreds of millions of anonymous data points to guide software developers in UI and UX design. Users can use the new features of Mendix Assist in both Studio and Studio Pro to get design and styling suggestions based on best practices at any time to develop cool consumer-grade UI experiences.

The launch of Page Bot complements the Mendix Assist suite, namely Logic Bot, which provides developers with the next logical step in writing microflows, while Performance Bot ensures that applications follow architectural patterns for optimal performance.

Johan den Haan also announced the Mendix Machine Learning (ML) Toolkit to meet the needs of enterprises that want to integrate custom machine learning models into applications developed with Mendix. This capability can play a key role when business processes and end-user satisfaction require specialized machine learning models, such as models executed on proprietary data sets and models with custom parameters turned off.

Through the machine learning toolkit, Mendix applies low-code abstraction and automation to the usually complex and cumbersome integration of artificial intelligence models. The machine learning toolkit avoids the typical complexity of REST services and APIs, supports drag-and-drop of machine learning models, and has automatic translation and execution capabilities. Johan den Haan said: "It is easier for developers to assemble specialized applications, and the applications will provide more value to end users."

Smart AppServices lead a new round of intelligent functions

Mendix is ​​committed to innovation with intelligent automation at its core, going beyond simple platform functions. As an important part of its ecosystem investment, Mendix has also launched intelligent AppServices, which provides favorable conditions for developers to assemble complex applications.

These services provide an extremely powerful foundation for the digitization of business processes with capabilities such as document data capture (such as processing invoices and receipts), cognitive services (such as language and emotion detection), and information communication (such as email and Microsoft Teams). AppServices are flexible and easy to access, and can be used to extend existing applications, improve solutions purchased in the Mendix Marketplace, or be deployed as a service at the application layer.

To enhance the ability of enterprises to deliver intelligent automation, Mendix has also released new business process workflow templates that can be used with the Mendix workflow editor as part of the Mendix application.
