Mouser Electronics Sponsors FIRST Robotics Competition for Youth
Helping to train the next generation of engineers
June 16, 2021 – Mouser Electronics, an electronic component distributor focused on introducing new products to drive industry innovation, announced that it will continue to sponsor the FIRST® Robotics Competition to encourage design innovation and help cultivate the versatile and comprehensive abilities of thousands of young people. In this event, nearly 50,000 high school students from nearly 3,000 teams from more than 30 countries will learn, discover, and solve engineering design problems through a series of online and offline robotics activities.
"Education has been a key mission for Mouser since its founding, and we are honored to have sponsored the FIRST Robotics Competition since 2014," said Jiping Tian, Mouser's Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Asia Pacific. "This competition provides students with a platform for innovation, an opportunity to learn valuable engineering skills, and an opportunity to build character and confidence."
For many years, Mouser has been a major supporter of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). This organization is a well-known non-profit organization dedicated to organizing advanced science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activities for students. Mouser will sponsor FIRST online and offline competitions at the local, regional, national and international levels. Mouser also sponsors with our important manufacturing partner Analog Devices, Inc.
Mouser, an authorized global distributor, will sponsor the Kit of Parts (KoP) for the 2020–2021 season and will be the primary co-sponsor of the FIRST-Texas Cup in Texas, scheduled for June 15-17 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Mouser also supports FIRST teams in its community, providing funding for local high school teams.
Each FIRST Robotics Competition team will receive a set of parts (KoP system), including motors, batteries, control systems, personal computers, and various automation components, but no instructions. Each team must use the kit to design a robot that can perform specific tasks within a limited time.
In addition, Mouser will continue to exclusively sponsor the FIRST Championship Hall of Fame, which is expected to resume offline activities in Houston and Detroit in 2022. The Hall of Fame rewards the winning team with the Chairman's Award to recognize the team that best demonstrates the goals and values of FIRST.
As a global authorized distributor, Mouser Electronics stocks a wide range of semiconductors and electronic components, and actively introduces new original products to support delivery at any time. Mouser aims to supply customers with fully certified original products and provide full manufacturer traceability. To help customers accelerate design, Mouser's website provides a rich technical resource library, including a technical resource center, product data sheets, supplier-specific reference designs, application notes, technical design information, design tools and other useful information.
