Mouser Electronics, an authorized global distributor of electronic components focused on introducing new products, uses advanced automation technology to ensure that its expanding global distribution center operates efficiently and delivers products to tens of thousands of customers around the world on time.
"Advances in automation technology have revolutionized many industries, and warehousing and logistics are no exception," said Jiping Tian, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Mouser Electronics in Asia Pacific. "The application of robotics has greatly improved the efficiency of operations such as picking, packaging, and palletizing. With the help of IoT technology, wireless systems, and digital tablets, our more than 1,000 warehouse employees have achieved unprecedented work efficiency improvements."
Tian added: "Mouzer's large distribution center is located in our 320,000 square meter global headquarters campus, distributes products from more than 1,100 brand manufacturers, and stocks more than 1 million different SKUs. The introduction of these advanced technologies not only allows Mouser employees to process tens of thousands of orders per week, most of which are completed within 15 minutes, but also to deliver on our solemn commitment to customer service."
In recent years, Mouser has invested heavily in advanced automation equipment to process orders efficiently and accurately. Currently, Mouser has 55 vertical lift modules (VLMs), which are oversized vertical file cabinets equipped with shelves and automatic lifts to store millions of electronic components. VLMs can deliver components directly to employee workstations, greatly improving efficiency and reducing floor space.
Tian said, "With the completion of the new 12,000 square meter building in the distribution center, more advanced technologies will be introduced in the future. Mouser also has several I-Pack machines, which is a sophisticated automatic packaging and boxing system that can process up to 14 orders per minute."
Tian further added: "Mouser focuses on small-volume distribution, where one device can be shipped, so we need to rely on employees to handle the special needs of such small orders. We use the most advanced automation technology to improve efficiency, processing power, accuracy and speed. The introduction of these new systems will help us achieve more sustainable operations and improve customer satisfaction. With the advancement of sensing and robotics technology, I believe we will see better automation development in the future, allowing us to work smarter."
