TI to present at 2022 Applied Power Electronics Conference, introduce new products to address key power management design challenges for electric vehicles and industrial systems
New TI products will help power designers reduce EMI and noise while increasing power density and reliability
BEIJING (March 18, 2022) – Texas Instruments (TI) will demonstrate how its engineers solve power management design challenges at the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC). From March 20 to 24, TI will showcase its system-level solutions for increasing power density, reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI), noise and quiescent current (IQ), and extending reliability. TI's power experts will also host 16 industry and technical sessions on these topics. If you want to view product samples, related white papers, technical articles and training videos online, please go to the TI.com/APEC page.
“For decades, TI has been at the forefront of developing new process, packaging and circuit design technologies that help power designers achieve higher power density, extend battery life, reduce EMI, maintain power and signal integrity and maintain system reliability,” said Mark Gary, senior vice president of TI’s analog power products. “We are committed to delivering next-generation power management solutions that help engineers achieve new levels of performance, energy efficiency and reliability in applications ranging from automotive powertrain and body electronics to electric vehicle charging, solar energy and medical equipment.”
TI will introduce three new products at APEC to help engineers reduce EMI and noise in their systems:
• The 36V, 3A LMQ66430 and LMQ66430-Q1 step-down converters integrate two input bypass capacitors and a boot capacitor, enabling engineers to easily meet CISPR 25 Class 5 EMI standards while providing excellent overall solution size, industry-leading 1.5µA quiescent current (IQ) and low bill of materials cost. To learn more about the advantages of these devices, read the technical article "Reduce EMI and save board space using buck regulators with integrated capacitors."
• The TPS7A94 low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator combines the industry’s lowest noise of 0.46µVRMS (at least 42% better than other industry solutions) with high power supply rejection ratio, helping designers improve system accuracy and precision in highly sensitive applications such as medical devices, wireless infrastructure and radar. Innovative solutions further advance power supply development
At TI.com/APEC, you can see how TI products can help engineers overcome key power management design challenges, such as:
• Improve power density with an 800V, 11kW, gallium nitride (GaN)-based, three-level, three-phase, active neutral point clamped (ANPC) inverter power stage reference design: Based on the 6.6kW ANPC inverter reference design, this product showcases the 600V gallium nitride (GaN) field effect transistor (FET) LMG3422R030, which is capable of high switching frequencies to reduce magnetic component size, increase power density, and achieve up to 98.5% peak efficiency in electric vehicle charging and solar applications.
• Reduce EMI while reducing filter size in automotive and industrial applications: In this system application, the LMQ66430-Q1 low EMI step-down converter reduces EMI in real time by leveraging a proprietary dual random spread spectrum technique, while also demonstrating how integrated capacitors can significantly simplify product design.
• Enable safer systems using high-voltage isolation technology for reliable operation: This system application is based on a high-speed traction inverter reference design that has been certified for ASIL D functional safety. It uses TI’s UCC5870-Q1 isolated gate driver and UCC14240-Q1 isolated DC/DC bias supply module to achieve higher system efficiency and 30A peak current, while maintaining system reliability through advanced high-voltage isolation, protection and diagnostic functions.
• Extending battery life in electric and hybrid electric vehicle powertrain systems: The 7kW onboard charger product uses TI’s REF35 ultra-low IQ voltage reference for precision amplifiers, automotive GaN FETs LMG3522R030-Q1 and C2000™ real-time microcontroller TMS320F280039C to help minimize power consumption and achieve greater than 96% system efficiency.
• Enhance power and signal integrity of low-voltage devices such as voltage-controlled oscillators, analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters, and high-end processors: This system application demonstrates the impact of different external stimuli on the power supply using the TPS7A94, the industry's lowest noise LDO, which can achieve 0.46µVRMS noise in the range of 10Hz to 100kHz.
TI power experts show you how technology empowers the future
Throughout APEC, TI experts will provide insights into current and future technologies that may improve system-level performance. APEC attendees can discuss topics such as: achieving low EMI using a dual random spread spectrum scheme, improving power density using 650V GaN FETs in 800V power converters, and providing more advanced protection and diagnostics for automotive applications through isolated gate drivers. A full schedule of industry and technology sessions hosted by TI experts is now available at TI.com/APEC.
