Tektronix Advanced Semiconductor Open Lab opens in Beijing, providing one-stop, all-round testing services
This is the country's first enterprise-level third-generation semiconductor power device testing service laboratory
Beijing, China, September 23, 2022 - Tektronix established the TEK Advance Semiconductor Open Lab in Beijing and invited guests to witness the opening ceremony. This is the first enterprise-level third-generation semiconductor power device test service laboratory in China. The open lab is based on Tektronix test equipment, combined with Tektronix's rich experience in the global third-generation semiconductor industry, and jointly built with domestic first-line solution partners. It is committed to accelerating the innovation and development of China's third-generation semiconductor industry, process optimization, and yield improvement, making engineers' work more efficient and confident.
To cope with the volatile future, support local innovation and independent research and development
The pace of technological innovation is getting faster and faster, the world situation is becoming more complex, and the ups and downs of the epidemic are unpredictable, which tests our adaptability and response speed. As Mr. Hong Binshun, President of Fudiwei Asia Pacific and President of Tektronix Technology Greater China and Southeast Asia, said at the opening ceremony, in the face of such an era full of urgency, complexity and volatility, we must support innovation more closely and more seamlessly with our customers and partners than ever before.
In the face of an era with greater urgency and complexity, digital transformation is the key, which can enhance our productivity, improve efficiency, and apply intelligent big data, allowing Tektronix to better cope with the complex and changing times and markets. We remain calm and keep pace with the times.
Mr. Hong Binshun said, "In the face of a volatile future, Tektronix insists on independent research and development and localized innovation, which is our core spirit. We keep pace with the market, customize research and development, and localize innovation, so as to quickly respond to diverse needs in different environments and conditions around the world, establish an agile operation system, and adjust strategies and technologies in a timely manner to keep up with changing market demands."
This year, a new round of energy crisis has become the world's number one economic issue. At the end of May 2022, officials from the International Energy Agency pointed out that the world is facing a triple crisis of oil, natural gas and electricity. China has also formally proposed the strategic goals of carbon peak in 2030 and carbon neutrality in 2060. Achieving the dual carbon goals is a systematic project. One of the important measures is to vigorously develop new energy and achieve energy conservation and emission reduction through the effective supply of new energy; this is also one of the core tasks of the new round of technological revolution.
Multiple parties work together to bring leading test solutions and test methods
With the rapid development of new energy industries under the dual carbon goals, the power semiconductor industry, led by three-and-a-half-generation power devices, is rising rapidly. Silicon carbide and gallium nitride devices, with their unique advantages, are rapidly entering the fields of consumer electronics, electric vehicles, and industry. New materials, new devices, and new features have brought new challenges to the design, production, and use of three-and-a-half-generation power devices.
When designing and producing this new device, R&D engineers need to fully understand the device characteristics, which includes more complex parameter testing and research on device reliability. While application engineers enjoy the advantages of high switching speed and high power density brought by the new device, they also need to face higher power circuit design requirements and long-term reliability issues caused by crosstalk and parameter drift.
Tektronix has been deeply involved in the semiconductor testing field for many years and is also an early member of the third-generation semiconductor standards committee of the Joint Electron Engineering Design Council (JEDEC). In the long-term communication and cooperation with global customers, Tektronix not only provides customers with a large number of test and measurement tools with reliable performance and excellent characteristics, but also has a deep understanding of the complex problems that customers may encounter during the testing process.
During the device testing process, customers not only need to invest a lot of money to purchase equipment, but also need to be equipped with experienced professional testers to operate; at the same time, since the test standards for third-generation semiconductor power devices have not yet been unified, each customer may form unique test requirements and need to develop special circuits, accessories, and fixtures to assist in testing. All of these make the characterization of third-generation semiconductor power devices cumbersome and complex, and have extremely high technical barriers.
Through close cooperation with a large number of third-party manufacturers, Tektronix continues to combine its own products with new testing needs to provide customers with more comprehensive, more efficient and more advanced testing solutions, and also brings new domestic and foreign industry standards and testing methods to customers. In order to help customers solve testing problems faster, Tektronix Technology established a power semiconductor testing laboratory in Beijing, which is the first enterprise-level third-generation semiconductor power device testing service laboratory in China.
The service will be launched soon, with comprehensive testing and remote support to get rid of possible obstacles
[Tektronix Advanced Semiconductor Open Laboratory] brings together parameter test solutions and new reliability test solutions for power semiconductor devices/modules jointly developed by Tektronix and domestic solution partners. The laboratory's testing capabilities cover a wide range of technologies, from traditional silicon-based devices to third-generation and a half power devices, high voltage to low voltage, devices to modules, one-stop, comprehensive feature testing and characterization.
The Tektronix Power Device Open Lab has the ability of remote access and online live broadcast, which can be accessed at any time to view the test progress, helping users understand the experimental operation methods and test processes. The experimental data strictly abides by the management process and is provided one-to-one to designated customers, while providing data interpretation and analysis services. The laboratory will conduct online technical exchanges, test explanations and other services from time to time, combining the technical experience of Tektronix and third-party manufacturers to provide customers with high-quality and high-quality testing services.
Tektronix's first 10 million-level semiconductor device test laboratory is open for free testing. Test experts will provide on-site technical guidance to help you solve the static and dynamic parameters of SiC, GaN devices and modules and their accurate testing and evaluation at the application level. The event ends on December 31, 2022, and the number of free places is limited each month.
