[June 12, 2024, Munich, Germany] Infineon Technologies AG, a global semiconductor leader in power systems and the Internet of Things, recently launched the new XENSIV™ TLE49SR angle sensor series . This series of sensors combines excellent stray field immunity and high accuracy for safety-critical automotive chassis system applications such as electric power steering and vehicle height adjustment.

All members of the XENSIV™ TLE49SR family can withstand stray magnetic fields up to 8 mT. The inhomogeneous stray magnetic field strength of this series of sensors is up to 4000 A/m (equivalent to 5 mT), which exceeds the ISO11452-8 IV automotive hybrid and electrification standard requirements and does not require external shielding.

The inherent accuracy of the sensors gives an angular error of less than 1°, which can be further reduced by using a lookup table: multi-point calibration (16 variable points and 32 equidistant points) gives an angular error of less than 0.5°. This feature helps to compensate for angular errors caused by mechanical deviations during the manufacturing process, for example.

This series of angle sensors is an "independent safety element" developed according to ISO 26262. The ASIL C component-level indicator enables system designs to reach ASIL D functional safety level.

Availability

The first members of the new XENSIV™ TLE49SR angle sensor family are now available with PWM, SENT or SPC interfaces in a TDSO-8 package suitable for surface mounting.
