January 5, 2023, Dongguan, China - Avnet, the world's leading technology distributor and solution provider, and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) jointly announced the iDM2 Electronics Development Acceleration Program (iDM2 Micro-Electronics Node) in Dongguan Officially launched. The two parties have joined hands to introduce this electronic development acceleration program with the theme of FPGA technology to mainland China, aiming to cultivate new era engineering talents, support the growth of start-up enterprises, and promote technological innovation and the development of strategic emerging industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Mr. Mok Weixuan, Greater Bay Area Development Director of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, and Mr. Zhong Qiaohai, Vice President of Sales and Supplier Management of Avnet Asia, and representatives from Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau, Dongguan Songshan Lake High-tech Industrial Development Zone Management Committee, and Dongguan Marina Bay New Area Relevant representatives from the Management Committee and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Dongguan) National Innovation Institute for Outstanding Engineers in New Generation Information Technology attended the event.
Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks, Avnet and many industry partners attended the launch ceremony
iDM2 means Idea, Design, Manufacturing and Market. These four interrelated elements cover key links in the entire industry chain. The iDM2 Electronic Development Acceleration Program is a new project jointly organized by Avnet and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks. It mainly focuses on the training of FPGA technical talents and helps scientific and technological enterprises, especially start-ups, to speed up product design and development and shorten the research and development cycle through the application of microelectronics design. and reduce costs.
The project landed in Dongguan this time and will organize a series of training activities. Each batch of training activities lasts for 3 months and will be carried out in spring and summer. During this period, Avnet will invite leading experts in the field of embedded processors and microelectronics to teach young scientific and technological talents and college students, create an advanced technical training industry chain, and cultivate a group of qualified FPGA engineers . In the future, Avnet will also provide support for the deployment of specific projects, industrialization and even market promotion to fully serve the needs of enterprises in the Greater Bay Area.
As early as 2019, Avnet and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks jointly organized the first training course of the " iDM2 Electronic Development Acceleration Program " in Hong Kong. There are 6 courses in this stage and the duration is 3 months . During the training process, Avnet provides trainees with development kits featuring AMD Xilinx FPGA architecture . The course content covers programming and cloud computing, motor control and intelligent transportation, artificial intelligence, big data analysis and computer vision, etc. It has trained more than 70 engineering talents in total, providing assistance to Hong Kong's re-industrialization and the development of Hong Kong's electronics manufacturing industry.
At the launch ceremony, Mr. Mok Wai-hin, Development Director of the Greater Bay Area of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks, said: "As Hong Kong's leading entrepreneurship incubation institution, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks hopes to work hand in hand with industry partners including Avnet to promote the iDM2 Electronics Development Acceleration Program to New breadth and new depth are being comprehensively promoted to cultivate a new generation of talents to support technological innovation and vigorous development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.”
