Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), a global supplier of leading semiconductor solutions, and Panthronics AG, a fabless semiconductor company specializing in high-performance wireless products, jointly announced that they will work together to create best-in-class solutions for the consumer electronics, industrial and Internet of Things (IoT) markets. The cooperation between the two parties will achieve technological leadership in improving performance, reducing size, reducing BOM and power consumption, while providing OEMs with a shorter time to market.
Renesas Electronics combines its wireless charging ICs with Panthronics' Near Field Communication (NFC) readers and controllers to broaden the range of applications and increase customer adoption. Panthronics' NFC solutions, with their patented sine wave driver architecture, deliver the highest power and connectivity for wireless charging applications. Renesas provides cutting-edge wireless power solutions for receivers and charging pads used in smartphones and other applications, as well as transmitters for automotive applications.
“We are excited to collaborate with Panthronics to deliver industry-leading wireless charging capabilities combined with NFC connectivity for the exploding IoT market,” said Dr. Amit Bavisi, Vice President of Engineering, IoT and Infrastructure Business Unit at Renesas Electronics. “We believe that the combination of superior technology and differentiated IP will enable us to design turnkey, smallest size, and highest performance wireless power solutions to meet the needs of our customers for their next generation IoT end products.”
“This collaboration allows Renesas’ broad customer base and partner ecosystem to directly benefit from our breakthrough NFC solutions,” said Mark Dickson, Chief Marketing Officer at Panthronics. “Panthronics’ groundbreaking NFC portfolio with the industry’s best RF performance, combined with Renesas’ best-in-class wireless charging technology, surpasses all product solutions available today.”
The two parties are exploring new opportunities for further collaboration and integration of Panthronics NFC products with Renesas microcontrollers, microprocessors, analog, power, sensors, and connectivity products.
