Why did mobile phone manufacturers suddenly go bankrupt? OPPO hits the nail on the head
On December 26, OPPO released its first 5G dual-mode mobile phone, the Reno3 series, priced from 3,399 yuan. Wu Qiang, OPPO's vice president and president of global sales, said in an interview with the media that the current leading manufacturers in the mobile phone industry will not suddenly go bankrupt next year, but the industry ranking will change again. The most critical point is "who makes fewer mistakes " .
Wu Qiang believes that each of the current leading manufacturers is very strong and has its own characteristics. No one can easily swallow another, and no one can turn the situation around with just one product. However, the rankings among the leading manufacturers will change again.
"The competition is about who makes fewer mistakes. Once you make a mistake, especially a fatal mistake, you will fall from grace ," he said.
IDC data shows that China's smartphone market shipments in the third quarter of 2019 were approximately 98.9 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 3.6%. Among them, OPPO's shipments also declined, ranking third in the country overall.
Wu Qiang predicts that OPPO's shipments this year will be the same as last year.
Regarding the market structure, Wu Qiang believes that OPPO has never regarded market ranking as its main goal. Market ups and downs are normal business phenomena, and no one can always stand at a high position . When encountering problems, OPPO must find its own problems, find out the root causes, and then solve them, constantly improving its professional capabilities.
Wu Qiang admitted that OPPO had some deviations in many aspects including products, brands, marketing, channels, etc. in 2019.
"The things we were good at in the past have become obstacles. Our past thinking and models have become rigid. The market and competitors have changed, and past experience may not be as applicable anymore." Wu Qiang said that the most important thing for OPPO in 2020 is to get back on the right track, return to its duties, and insist on doing the right things.
