Zhang Rujing left Xinen and moved to Shanghai Jetta

On May 17, Dr. Zhang Rujing left Qingdao Xinen Semiconductor and became the executive director of Shanghai Jetta Semiconductor Co., Ltd.

When talking about Dr. Chang Rujing, one can't help but think of the three companies he founded, SMIC, Shinsei Semiconductor, and Xin'en Semiconductor, which play a vital role in the semiconductor industry in mainland China. SMIC is the first semiconductor manufacturing company in mainland China; Shinsei Semiconductor is the first 300mm silicon wafer company in mainland China; and Xin'en is the first CIDM model company in mainland China.

During the 20 years that Dr. Zhang Rujing worked in mainland China, he participated in and witnessed the great strides in the development of semiconductors in mainland China.

In August, Xin'en held a swearing-in ceremony in Qingdao. At the meeting, it was officially announced that the 8-inch plant had successfully put into production, and the products put into production were power devices with a yield of more than 90%. The mask plant also completed product delivery during the same period. At the swearing-in ceremony, Zhang Rujing told all employees: "Everyone must have patience, confidence, and determination, and use more perseverance and tenacity to make the project a success and contribute to mainland semiconductors!"

Why is it a tower?

It is reported that Shanghai Jetta Semiconductor was established in 2017 and invested by Huada Semiconductor, which is a subsidiary of China Electronics Information Industry Group (CEC) and one of the top ten integrated circuit design companies in China. Huada's business is mainly concentrated in IC design including analog circuits, LCD drivers, smart cards, security chips and other fields, especially in the smart card and security chip shipments, which are among the best in China.

Since its establishment, Jetta Semiconductor has been steadily advancing with remarkable results. In August 2018, Jetta built a new plant in the industrial park in the Lingang New Area, with a total investment of approximately 35.9 billion yuan. The Lingang capacity layout is dedicated to special process production lines for high-end applications such as industrial control and automotive electronics: 8-inch production lines produce 60,000 pieces per month, 12-inch special process production lines produce 3,000 pieces per month, and 6-inch SiC production lines produce 5,000 pieces per month. In October of the same year, Jetta Semiconductor also announced its merger with Shanghai Advanced Semiconductor. On June 30, 2020, Jetta Semiconductor's new Lingang plant was officially put into production.

According to industry insiders, the industry is optimistic about the foundry capabilities of Jetta Semiconductor in the fields of IGBT and SiC, and it will have great potential in this field. In addition, some experts analyzed that compared with Xin'en, Jetta Semiconductor has a bigger plate, and Zhang Rujing has many years of rich practical experience and talents, which may be fully utilized.
