Samsung mobile phone fails again.
On May 23, 2020, Samsung mobile phone users reported that their Samsung devices encountered black screen and large-scale restart problems. Judging from the feedback, the affected mobile phones mainly include S8, S9, S10, S20 and other models.
I can only say that the mobile phone in front of me is not a mobile phone, but a "brick" without emotions.
Samsung phone system crash
In the early morning of May 23, Samsung's mobile phone system crashed without warning, and most users' phone screens went black or displayed a large amount of garbled text.
What’s even more embarrassing is that even the mobile phone samples sold in flagship stores cannot escape the invasion of bugs.
It is worth mentioning that the mobile phone models affected by the bug mainly include S8, S9, S10, S20, etc.
In response, Samsung responded on the social platform at 11:49 on May 23:
Dear Samsung mobile phone users, we have received feedback from some users about system issues. We are currently actively investigating the cause and will provide a corresponding solution as soon as possible.
Netizens obviously do not buy this response.
Some netizens believe that Samsung took too long to respond and did not provide a solution in its response.
Judging from the reactions of netizens, the biggest concern regarding the collapse of the mobile phone system is the loss of data, which Samsung has not yet mentioned in its response.
In fact, as early as when Samsung phones had problems, some users had proposed some solutions that could be used as reference.
The digital blogger "Master_Maserati" on Weibo said that the Samsung system crash was due to the date problem of leap April. Not only that, the blogger also gave a solution after being hit (Leifeng.com note: unofficial solution), as follows:
1. Restart first, and do not turn off the screen after restarting, otherwise it will restart again2. After restarting, double-click the power button on the black screen to start the camera, slide down the status bar, go to Settings-General Management to change the time. It is recommended to change it to May 1st.
3. If the second method does not apply, you can use another mobile phone to make a call. After the call is connected, swipe down the status bar on the call interface to enter the settings to change the time.
Basically, the phone will return to normal after changing the time. If someone around you has this problem, first tell him to change the time to solve the problem of the phone restarting, and then wait for today's official update.
As of press time, Samsung has not yet provided a specific solution.
Samsung mobile phones have repeatedly crashed
Some netizens have become accustomed to the failure of Samsung mobile phones. Some even joked that Samsung's share of the domestic mobile phone market was less than 1%, and now it is even worse.
Looking back at Samsung’s last major bug, it was only seven months ago.
In October 2019, foreign media exposed the ultrasonic fingerprint security vulnerability of the Samsung S10 mobile phone. After that, Bank of China, Alipay and WeChat successively disabled the fingerprint payment function of the Samsung S10 and Note10 series.
The report pointed out that a British Samsung user Lisa Neilson found that after using a screen protector on the display of her Galaxy S10 mobile phone, fingers that did not originally have fingerprints recorded could also unlock her phone.
On October 18, Samsung officially issued a statement in response, acknowledging the security vulnerability and recommending that Galaxy Note10/10+ and S10/S10+/S10 5G models do not use silicone phone protectors, delete all previous fingerprints, and re-register fingerprints.
At the same time, Samsung said it will resolve the vulnerability through software updates.
In June 2018, also at the software level, a bug occurred in the information system of Samsung mobile phones, and the device would randomly send photos to contacts in the phone.
On the Reddit forum, a user claimed that his Galaxy S9+ automatically sent his entire phone photo album to his girlfriend while he was sleeping. Other users also reported similar problems.
Judging from the user reactions at the time, the affected mobile phone models were mainly Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note8.
The danger of mobile phone vulnerabilities only exists at the software level, while hardware explosions affect personal safety.
In 2016, Samsung Note7 had multiple explosion incidents. Five days after the Note7 was first released, a Korean user reported that the phone caught fire while charging at night.
Although Samsung calmed down the first explosion incident, users reported Note7 explosions one after another. At that time, Samsung Note7 was issued a "fly ban" by many countries and was not allowed to be carried on airplanes.
In September 2016, Samsung formally apologized, explaining that the explosion/spontaneous combustion of the phone was due to quality defects in the battery, and decided to recall the Note7 phone in 10 countries where it was sold, including the United States and South Korea, as well as China's Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions.
It is worth noting that mainland China is not included in the recall range. This differentiated treatment approach has caused dissatisfaction among Chinese consumers.
Although Samsung later explained that the Chinese version of the Galaxy Note7 used a different battery supplier and was therefore not included in this replacement, this public relations approach still left a sour taste in the mouth of Chinese consumers.
As a result, Samsung is also losing market share in the Chinese mobile phone market bit by bit.
And with the occurrence of loopholes again and again, in the words of netizens, Samsung’s remaining market share is about to be “lost”.
