In the last month of 2018, Huawei has become the world's second largest smartphone manufacturer. Both the P series and the Mate series, the dual flagships of the first and second half of the year, are enough to shape Huawei's high-end brand image, but these two series are not all of Huawei's mobile phones. In the more affordable and fashionable price range, Huawei also has a killer weapon - the nova series.
On December 17, Huawei nova 4 was officially released in Changsha.
Huawei nova 4: Extreme full screen + 48 million
Huawei nova 4 is obviously a product that pursues youth and fashion, just like its brand positioning; for this reason, nova's global spokesperson Yi Yang Qianxi came to the scene.
From the appearance point of view, Huawei nova 4 adopts another full-screen form factor - the so-called extreme full-screen. In other words, the front camera is embedded under the screen, and the previous notch screen or water drop screen design is abandoned. From the overall look and feel, the integration is stronger; however, due to the limitation of packaging technology, nova 4 still has a small chin at the bottom of the front. The screen size is 6.4 inches, the resolution is 2310x1080p, and the screen ratio is 86.3%.
Leifeng.com learned that in order to achieve the effect of the extreme full screen, nova 4 uses under-screen lens technology, which is covered with LCD panel and glass panel. The lens size is 3.05 mm, the smallest in the industry, and the screen opening size is 4.5 mm. At the same time, in order to match the full screen, the distance sensor of nova 4 is placed on the top of the front panel of the phone, and the height of the earpiece is only 0.85 mm.
In terms of photography, Huawei nova 4 is equipped with a 25-megapixel front camera, supports AI micro-beautification, and uses a Sony IMX 576 sensor. In terms of rear cameras, Huawei nova 4 is equipped with three lenses, namely 48 million HD lens f/1.8 (customized version of Sony IMX 586 CMOS, 1/2 bottom, this is the high-end version, the standard version is 20 million HD lens) + 16 million ultra-wide-angle lens f/2.2 + 2 million blur lens f/2.4.
At the same time, nova 4 is also equipped with Kirin 970 AI processor, which supports the recognition of more than 200 scenes with the support of NPU; and functions such as HDR Pro, ultra-wide-angle video shooting, WeChat video call portrait beauty, and AI protagonist story collection (which can automatically identify characters and quickly generate 10-second short videos for sharing in Moments) are also present.
Other configurations of Huawei nova 4 are as follows:
-
It has four colors: bright black, Suyin blue, mother-of-pearl white, and honey red;
-
8GB +128GB;
-
Huawei Share 3.0;
-
3750 mAh battery;
-
Dual SIM card full network access;
-
Type-C port + 3.5 mm headphone jack;
-
Fingerprint recognition + face recognition;
-
Equipped with the new Huawei Xiaoyi voice assistant.
In terms of price, the high-end version of nova 4 equipped with a 48-megapixel main camera is priced at 3,399 yuan, and the standard version with a 20-megapixel main camera is priced at 3,099 yuan.
In addition, Huawei also launched the more affordable Enjoy 9 mobile phone, which features a 4000 mAh long battery life. The 4GB + 64 GB version is priced at 1,299 yuan, and the 3GB + 32 GB version is priced at 999 yuan.
Huawei's shipments this year will exceed 200 million units
At the press conference, He Gang, President of Huawei's Consumer Business Mobile Product Line, announced that the number of Huawei nova series users has exceeded 65 million.
Leifeng.com learned that Huawei released the first generation of nova in October 2016. In the past two years and two months, Huawei has released several generations of products including nova 2/Plus, nova 2s, nova 3, etc. These products use Huawei's sales channels and are sold not only in the Chinese market, but also in many countries and regions around the world.
However, He Gang announced another big news at the press conference - Huawei's global mobile phone shipments in 2018 are expected to exceed 200 million units on December 25, 2018 - this is obviously a new milestone for Huawei mobile phones.
Three years ago, on December 22, 2015, at Huawei's Songshan Lake base in Dongguan, He Gang personally announced the birth of the 100 millionth mobile phone in 2015. This mobile phone was Huawei's 2015 annual business flagship model Mate 8; Huawei also engraved the words "Huawei mobile phone number 100,000,000 in 2015" on the back of this mobile phone with great symbolic significance. This mobile phone also made Huawei the first mobile phone manufacturer in China and the third in the world to ship more than 100 million smartphones per year.
On October 14, 2016, Huawei announced on Weibo that the 100 millionth mobile phone of 2016 officially rolled off the production line; on the same day, Huawei held a press conference in Chengdu, launching a flagship model nova under a new brand, and gave it the identity of the 100 millionth Huawei mobile phone of 2016.
However, in the following two years, with the joint efforts of Huawei and Honor, Huawei's mobile phone shipments grew faster and faster. In 2017, the shipment reached 100 million units on September 12, and in 2018 it was July 18. In fact, at the Huawei nova 3 launch conference on July 18, 2018, Yu Chengdong announced that Huawei would challenge the shipment of 200 million units in 2018.
It looks like this challenge is about to be successful.
Of course, 200 million units is not the end for Huawei; in Yu Chengdong's longer-term goal, Huawei hopes to surpass Samsung and become the world's largest smartphone manufacturer in 2020. In Leifeng.com's view, this statement is no longer an empty talk, but a concrete and feasible goal, but Huawei still needs to continue to innovate and work hard.
Let's wait and see.
