Analog Devices Announces Complete Audio System Using A2B Audio Bus Technology

Analog Devices today introduced a complete audio system using the SHARC ® Audio Module (SAM) for use in digital audio devices including audio FX processors, multi-channel audio systems, MIDI synthesizers, and other DSP-based audio systems.


The SAM features the dual-core SHARC+ ADSP-SC589 audio processor SoC (with an Arm ® Cortex ® -A5 core) and ADI’s A 2 B audio bus technology. In addition to the main SHARC audio module board, ADI also offers daughter boards that add additional functionality to the main board and expand the audio system. The Audio Project Fin board mates directly to the main board and provides MIDI in/out, buttons, and potentiometers to adjust the sound effects. The A 2 B amplifier module uses two high-efficiency Class-D amplifiers to output digital audio data received from a PDM microphone and/or serial TDM source on the main board (or another connected A 2 B node) over the A 2 B twisted pair bus.


This complete audio system delivers high-fidelity multi-channel digital audio with low deterministic latency to a fully synchronized distributed audio system. The system is ideal for rapid prototyping, project evaluation, demonstration, and educational applications. Users can reduce time to market by leveraging the ready-made prototyping system and the comprehensive hardware and software solutions provided.
