The 94th China Electronics Fair was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from October 30 to November 1, 2019. The theme of this exhibition is "Informatization drives industrialization, and electronic technology promotes industrial upgrading", with an exhibition area of 36,000 square meters.

This China Electronics Fair is divided into three exhibition halls: the New Electronics Hall W1, the Components Hall W2, and the Equipment and Instruments Hall W3. The New Electronics Hall houses passive components, semiconductor computers, network security, and surface engineering exhibitions; the Components Hall includes exhibitors of integrated circuits, discrete devices, resistors, capacitors, potentiometers, automotive electronics, and 5G applications; the Equipment and Instruments Hall covers electronic equipment and intelligent manufacturing, instrumentation, connectors, special components, welding competitions, etc., aiming to focus on the display of electronic components, integrated circuits, test and measurement, electronic equipment and intelligent manufacturing, automotive electronics, the Internet of Things, embedded systems and other fields, and strive to create a full industry chain lineup from upstream basic electronic components to downstream product applications.

In addition to the innovative exhibitors' products and technologies, the exhibition area also features exciting and informative forums. What are the hot topics of this exhibition? Xinshiye has sorted them out for you!

The semiconductor industry is highly favored by investors

Before this exhibition, the country established the second phase of the Integrated Circuit Industry Fund with a registered capital of over 200 billion yuan. The policy support has made the semiconductor industry boil again.

The 3rd China (Shanghai) Integrated Circuit Industry Development Summit Forum

The "3rd China (Shanghai) Integrated Circuit Industry Development Summit Forum" held on the first day of the exhibition was packed. It is worth noting that in the past, the audience of such forums were mostly engineers from upstream and downstream technology companies in the semiconductor industry, but according to the guest speaker who participated in the forum this time, Xiang Xinshiye revealed: "Almost half of the audience who came to exchange business cards this time were investment institutions. "

Xu Wei, Secretary General of the Shanghai Integrated Circuit Industry Association, said that the semiconductor industry has a good development momentum and the investment boom started last year: "In 2018, China's integrated circuit industry continued to maintain a strong development momentum. Although there were some ups and downs, the total sales volume reached 653.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.7%, of which the design industry was 251.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.5%, the chip manufacturing industry was 181.82 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25%, and the packaging and testing industry was 219.37 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.1%. In 2018, China's investment expenditure on integrated circuit construction projects reached 11 billion, an increase of 39.2% over 2017, which is the largest investment scale in history. "

This is inseparable from the demonstration effect of national policies. An investor who attended the conference told Xin Shiye that he did not understand the chip industry and chip technology, and he followed the country's financial support policy for semiconductors to invest in semiconductors. He also intended to invest in semiconductor companies supported by national funds and related to the Science and Technology Innovation Board.

On the other hand, from the perspective of domestic chip companies, the staff at the booth of domestic memory Dongxin Semiconductor also told Xinshiye: "Chip companies with mass production capabilities are not short of financial support at present. "

Breaking down the whole into parts, domestic "core" replaces the tuyere

The country has given strong support to the semiconductor industry, and the reasons are obvious: it hopes to cultivate China's local chip strength to support the development of China's electronics industry, so that it will no longer be strangled by European and American companies.

Chinese companies lived up to expectations. Since 2017, there has been a wave of domestic substitution in China. Last year, under Trump's strong "blockade policy", chips suddenly became a rigid demand, which accelerated the overall process of domestic substitution. In 2019, the enthusiasm for "domestic substitution" remained high.

According to Huang Zhijun, deputy general manager of Shanghai Anlu Information Technology Co., Ltd. at the "Third China (Shanghai) Integrated Circuit Industry Development Summit Forum": In the current chip application market, domestic chips account for 2% .

A 2% market share is not enough to lead the mainstream chip market, but a single spark can start a prairie fire. Chinese companies have taken the first step to break through, and the trend of domestic "chip" replacement has taken shape.

The 2% breakthrough is due to the unique “breaking the whole into parts” strategy of domestic chip companies – instead of making a large and comprehensive chip series, they break into the chip market from niche areas .

An Yi, sales director of Dongxin Semiconductor, which focuses on the memory chip field, told Xinshiye in an interview: "Compared with Europe and the United States, domestic chip technology is still inferior. But taking memory chips as an example, although it is not possible to compete with European and American chips in terms of large capacity, the market is diversified. Some specific fields require small capacity. Dongxin can first do a good job in the small capacity market, and then gradually overcome technical difficulties and develop in the direction of large capacity. "

Adhering to the concept of focusing on niche areas and "differentiation", Doxin has now become a leader in small-capacity storage chips, breaking the monopoly of domestic storage chips by foreign companies. It has also cooperated with international benchmark customers, some domestic security giants and communications giants.

5G is here, the strongest engine for developing the digital economy

5G has become one of the hot areas that countries around the world are competing to develop, and it is also a hot topic at this exhibition.

On October 31, China officially opened the 5G commercial era. China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom, the three major operators, launched commercial 5G packages on October 31. On the same day, two 5G forums were also in full swing during the exhibition - "2019 China 5G New Electronic Components Innovation and Development Forum" and "2019 China 5G Industry Innovation and Development Forum". The two 5G forums started with the report on 5G component technology innovation and the latest 5G applications, and deeply analyzed the latest logic of 5G industry development.

At the "2019 China 5G Industry Innovation and Development Forum", Zhu Xuetian from the Network Technology and Planning Department of China Telecom Beijing Research Institute said: "In 2018, China's digital economy exceeded 31 billion yuan, accounting for 34.8% of GDP. After 2030, the proportion of the entire digital economy GDP in the national GDP is expected to exceed 50%, and the core of the digital economy is 5G ."

The industry generally believes that the commercial use of 5G is not just about providing network speed upgrades for C-end users. Its greater value lies in providing support for B-end enterprises. Based on 5G technology and 5G ecology, B-end enterprises will create the next generation of business architecture and services.

Automotive electronics presents huge development space

With the rapid development of 5G and IoT technologies such as artificial intelligence, the automotive electronics industry also presents huge room for development.

According to the QYR survey results, the total value of the global automotive electronic components market reached 271.72 billion yuan in 2018, and is expected to grow to 399.6 billion yuan in 2025, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.8%.

Dr. Huang Qing, Managing Director of Walden International and Partner of China Electronics Walden Information Industry Fund, said: " The next largest semiconductor application platform is automobiles . The Chinese government and industry organizations are promoting a new ecosystem for future smart travel. Currently, China accounts for more than half of the global venture capital related to automotive chips and automotive intelligent sensors."

The automotive electronics industry has great development potential, and domestic companies are also following suit. Wu Liji, the host of the 17th China (Shanghai) Automotive Electronics Technology Forum held during the exhibition and the director of the Information Security and Automotive Electronics Integrated Circuit and System Laboratory of Tsinghua University, said with emotion about this forum: "In the past, the corporate speakers who participated in the automotive electronics forum were all from overseas companies such as NXP and Infineon. This year, the speakers who participated in the forum included domestic companies such as Unigroup Guoxin, 360 Group, Suzhou Guoxin, and Xinlai Technology. "

summary

Judging from this China Electronics Fair, my country's electronics industry is accelerating the ecological construction of the integrated circuit industry chain, promoting upstream and downstream coordinated development, and taking the path of collaborative innovation.

After years of planning and development, and with the unity of all employees under the influence of the external environment, domestic companies have achieved some results.

But in general, China's "core" has just ushered in a new situation, and more technological accumulation and market testing will be needed in the future.

China's "core" is still on the way.
