At present, the penetration rate of electric vehicles is growing rapidly, and car charging has become a key area of focus. Dalian Dayoushang Group has developed an entry-level reference design for the STDES-30KWVRECT 30 kW Vienna PFC rectifier, which fully digitally controls PF, DC voltage and soft-start procedures. At full load, THD is less than 5%, and the power factor is high at 0.99. It also provides high-bandwidth continuous conduction mode (CCM) current regulation.

At present, although the electric vehicle market is showing a rapid growth trend, charging technology is still a pain point for users. In order to improve the user's charging experience, major automakers have invested in research and development resources to launch faster and more efficient charging technologies. In this context, Dalian Dayou has launched a 30kW Vienna PFC rectifier reference design (STDES-30KWVRECT) solution based on ST STM32G474RET3 MCU, STPSC40H12C SiC Schottky diode, SCT018W65G3-4AG SiC MOSFET and STGAP2SICS current isolation driver IC, which achieves low total harmonic distortion (THD less than 5% at full load) and high power factor (higher than 0.99 at full load), which can bring higher energy efficiency and reliability to manufacturers.

The STDES-30KWVRECT introduces a complete digital power solution for high power three-phase active front end (AFE) rectifier applications based on the three-level Vienna topology.
In the DC fast charging power supply, the Vienna rectifier is used as a three-phase boost conversion to increase the AC input voltage to 800VDC output, while applying a sinusoidal input current in phase with the input voltage on all three phases. In the design, each phase consists of a boost inductor, a pair of rectifiers (STPSC40H12C SiC Schottky diodes) and a set of series MOSFETs, using two parallel SCT018W65G3-4AG SiC MOSFETs at each position.
In addition, the solution's driving circuit uses the STGAP2SICS current isolation driver IC, which can provide 4A driving current capability and common mode transient immunity (CMTI) up to 100V/ns. At the control level, the solution uses the STM32G474RET3 MCU, which can control PFC, THD, voltage regulation, input overcurrent protection (OCP), overvoltage protection (OVP), soft start and inrush current to ensure the safety of the entire charging process.

In addition, the solution is equipped with a firmware that supports the onboard STM32G4 - STSW-30KWVRECT, and provides schematics and BOM lists, from which users can obtain software functions such as soft start programs or control algorithms, so as to quickly complete the design and development work and bring the charging module to market faster.
