Finally received the development board, let's familiarize ourselves with it by referring to the circuit diagram.

The four-layer PCB, BLE (BlueNRG-1 and RF part) does not occupy a large area on the board. The silkscreen marks the functions of each area, which is not difficult to understand. As for the role of the chip, you need to refer to the circuit diagram.

The BlueNRG-1 SoC is packaged in QFN32 and is similar to the periphery of a microcontroller, except that it has additional RF-specific pins.

As you can guess from looking at it, UART is connected to the USB-to-SERIAL part, which is connected to the virtual serial port on the computer; I2C and SPI are used to connect to the sensors on the board, and GPIO is used for LED indicators, buttons, and Arduino pin connections. The conversion from USB to UART is not done by a dedicated chip, but by another MCU: STM32L151.

Sensors, which are the devices used in this evaluation:

The pressure gauge LPS25HB is connected to the BlueNRG-1 via I2C, while the inertial unit LSM6DS3 uses the SPI bus. There is also an analog switch (U11) that can connect the SPI pins of the STM32L151 to this SPI bus.

VBLUE is the power network for BlueNRG-1 and its peripheral components. You can use jumpers to select the 3.3V regulated by USB power or the power provided by the 2AAA battery box on the back of the board. The STM32L151 USB-to-serial port uses a fixed 3.3V, so a level converter is used between it and BlueNRG-1 for I/O interconnection.

In summary, the circuit connection relationship is simple and the power supply method is simple.
