At the same time, the strong technical strength of Chinese manufacturers and their ability to respond quickly to market demand are also defining and creating new application scenarios in the AI era. At the Qualcomm booth, the application demonstration of the Honor YOYO AI intelligent body built on the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition mobile platform vividly reflects its innovation in the terminal-side AI experience - through user intention perception and AI learning, human-computer interaction becomes simpler and more intuitive, and the scattered and complex operations in the past are simplified, greatly improving the user's terminal-side AI application experience.
The promise of innovation: AI on the terminal side presents new application space
As a leader in terminal AI, Qualcomm has been deeply involved in the AI field for more than 15 years, providing industry-leading hardware and software solutions that are widely used in various terminal devices. Currently, the global shipments of terminal products enabled by Qualcomm AI engines have exceeded 2.5 billion. Qualcomm is committed to further narrowing the gap between cloud and terminal AI and promoting the role of AI technology in a wider range of fields.
The Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition mobile platform uses a series of leading technologies for the first time, including the second-generation customized Qualcomm Oryon™ CPU, Qualcomm Adreno™ GPU and enhanced Qualcomm Hexagon™ NPU, to achieve disruptive performance improvements. These innovations will usher in a new era of generative AI on the terminal side - by providing personalized multimodal generative AI directly on the terminal side, supporting voice, context and image understanding, thereby comprehensively enhancing the experience in all aspects from productivity to creative tasks.
Qualcomm and Zhipu cooperated to adapt and optimize the GLM-4V end-side vision large model application display based on the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition mobile platform
At Qualcomm's booth at the CIIE, a number of terminal-side AI large model applications based on the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition mobile platform were demonstrated, providing unlimited possibilities for future smart devices and services. For example, the GLM-4V terminal-side visual large model developed by Qualcomm and Zhipu supports four terminal-side interaction methods: text, voice, photos and videos. On-site audiences can pick up a smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition mobile platform and use the camera to conduct real-time voice conversations. For example, ask the name of the wild animal captured in the camera lens, and the AI can answer instantly in the form of text and voice. Unlike the early AI interaction method that only supports text conversations, the multimodal generative AI model can use the rich sensor data on the terminal side to create a more intuitive and seamless intelligent interaction experience.
In addition, Qualcomm also worked with Tencent Hunyuan to demonstrate the excellent performance of Tencent Hunyuan Big Model deployed on the terminal side based on the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition mobile platform. Currently, Tencent Hunyuan Big Model has provided underlying technical support for more than 700 business scenarios and C-end applications within Tencent, helping partners provide technical support for a wide range of business scenarios and further expanding the application and popularization of generative AI on the terminal side.
In addition to mobile terminals, Snapdragon will also bring leading connection technology and terminal-side AI performance to more terminal categories. In the PC field, Qualcomm demonstrated a number of Windows 11 AI PCs equipped with Snapdragon X series launched by global leading manufacturers such as Lenovo, Microsoft, ASUS, and Honor, bringing a smarter and more personalized user experience to the audience.
