In Chen Haibo's view, compared with other similar AI companies, hardware manufacturing is SenseTime's competitive barrier. Currently, SenseTime already has four manufacturing bases in China to serve the implementation of AI technology.
At the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Shenlan brought its star product, the Panda Bus, to the event. This time, there were not only buses, but also supporting infrastructure - the 5G AI Panda Bus Station.
In the field of autonomous driving, DeepBlue Technology has made rapid progress and has been applied all over the world.
In Europe, it has signed smart city cooperation agreements with Greece and Italy, and smart driving buses are expected to be implemented in Thailand and other European countries soon.
In China, SenseTime has also obtained smart bus road test licenses in Guangzhou and Changsha. It is worth noting that the road test licenses issued in Guangzhou and Changsha also attach great importance to applications such as 5G. On the one hand, Shenlan obtained the first intelligent networked bus license in Shanghai. So far, Shenlan has three road test licenses for autonomous driving buses.
Afterwards, Shenlan Technology will carry out open testing of the Panda Bus's intelligent connected network on a total of 37.2 kilometers of public roads in Jiading District and Lingang District of Shanghai.
Unlike ordinary passenger vehicles, the Panda Bus is a medium-to-large autonomous driving vehicle system, with a length of 12 meters, a width of 2.55 meters, a height of 3.25 meters, and a weight of approximately 10 tons. This greatly increases the difficulty in sensor layout design, perception detection fusion and scene recognition, networked communications and control strategies, and decision-making and control of the entire vehicle system.
According to SenseTime, the successful passing of the Shanghai Intelligent Connected Vehicle Test License (1,400+ tests) by Panda Bus marks a new level of autonomous driving for domestic medium and large vehicles.
On the other hand, as the representative of the Belt and Road Artificial Intelligence Industry Development Alliance, SenseTime read out the "Joint Declaration" and officially announced that the Panda Smart Bus will be a "Belt and Road" image product of "China's Intelligent Manufacturing" and will be headed to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Australia and other countries.
Moreover, it is not just the Panda Bus, there is also Shenlan's AI smart sweeper, new retail and other businesses, etc., which serve as the external output of the entire Shenlan ecosystem.

In his opinion, there are four stages in the development of artificial intelligence: symbolic reasoning, deep learning, cognitive reasoning, and human-computer intelligence.
As companies engaged in artificial intelligence and basic research, they should use small samples to solve big problems and break the ceiling of current artificial intelligence technology based on deep learning. An important focus is to strengthen basic research:
We should fully draw on the advantages of symbolic reasoning to deep learning, give play to cognitive reasoning, find new data mechanisms for unified representation from symbolic space to vector space, and create a more efficient and explainable new artificial intelligence deep learning framework based on cognitive reasoning.
