Today, when the concept of sustainable development is highly valued, countless companies have made commitments, embraced innovative technologies, embarked on a green journey, and achieved long-term goals through practical actions.
ON Semiconductor is one of them, which is deeply involved in the automotive and industrial terminal markets . It accelerates the innovation and transformation of automotive electronic functions and automotive safety, sustainable power grid, industrial automation, 5G and cloud infrastructure, and shows unique creativity in every exploration, actively working to create a safer, cleaner and smarter world.
At the recently held Shenzhen International Power Components and Renewable Energy Management Exhibition (PCIM Asia 2024), ON Semiconductor demonstrated its innovative smart power solutions and technologies. During the exhibition, reporters from Automotive & Accessories had a dialogue with ON Semiconductor executives, and talked in depth about ON Semiconductor's development in sustainable development and technological innovation, and thought about the logic and deeper meaning behind its actions.
As a global company, ON Semiconductor has a portfolio of more than 37,000 products, with total revenue of $8.3 billion in 2024 and outstanding financial performance in the past three years. For ON Semiconductor, by driving innovation and creating smart power and sensing technologies, it can help customers solve the most challenging issues they face.
The ON Semiconductor Media Exchange was held during PCIM Asia 2024, and guests included Felicity Carson, ON Semiconductor Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President, Kris Casey, Vice President of Product Marketing for ON Semiconductor's Power Solutions Group, Auggie Djekic, Vice President of Strategic Business Development for ON Semiconductor's Analog and Mixed Signal Group, Theo Kersjes, ON Semiconductor Application Engineering Management, Dr. Mrinal Das, Senior Product Expert for ON Semiconductor's Power Solutions Group, and Ajay Sattu, Director of Product Marketing for Industrial Power Solutions for ON Semiconductor's Power Solutions Group.
Felicity Carson emphasized at the media conference: "Our technologies and solutions can not only empower customers and their end users to further improve sustainable business results, but ON Semiconductor is also proud of its sustainable operations." Especially in building a sustainable ecosystem, ON Semiconductor has spared no effort to promote high-end business in the fields of smart power and sensing, incubating many innovative results, thus contributing to the company's current development achievements.

If we look at it in different categories, in terms of intelligent power solutions, ON Semiconductor has exceeded expectations by achieving power targets with lighter weight, and has helped reduce system costs with excellent energy efficiency. Kris Casey said frankly: "Especially in silicon carbide, ON Semiconductor has achieved considerable development results through vertically integrated large-scale manufacturing and industry-leading innovative devices and packaging technologies, and its revenue growth rate is twice that of the market."

In terms of intelligent sensing solutions, ON Semiconductor is able to provide proprietary functions required by customers, thus fully meeting diversified requirements. Currently, ON Semiconductor's intelligent sensing solutions are far ahead in the automotive and industrial fields, achieving growth in the field of machine vision, and its market share in the ADAS field is as high as 68%.
During PCIM Asia 2024, our reporter saw the innovative products and solutions of ON Semiconductor at its booth. ON Semiconductor not only exhibited semiconductor solutions for automotive electrification, 48V systems, body electronics, energy infrastructure, AI data centers, and industrial motor control, but also unveiled SiC product walls, large turntables for robotic arms, and automotive drive-by-wire systems.
It can be found that the integration of smart technology and innovative concepts, coupled with the unremitting pursuit of sustainable development, enables ON Semiconductor to promote disruptive technological changes and enable a powerful sustainable ecosystem.
With the gradual "farewell" to fossil fuels and the growing demand for artificial intelligence and electric vehicles, energy consumption will increase exponentially in this decade. According to statistics, 90% of industrial heating relies on burning fossil fuels; it is estimated that by 2030, the global electricity consumption of electric vehicles will reach 1150 TWh.
With insight into industry trends, ON Semiconductor has made plans for electrification and actively leveraged its advantages in smart power. From a supply perspective, it has vertically integrated end-to-end capabilities, can achieve large-scale substrate, epitaxy, wafer and device manufacturing, and has excellent integrated module and packaging design solutions. From a technical perspective, ON Semiconductor's chip performance is leading, and it can also create differentiated advantages with the help of packaging innovation. From a scale perspective, ON Semiconductor has been working in the automotive and industrial markets for decades and has accumulated rich practical experience. It can achieve high-quality, large-scale manufacturing, and can also promote and personalize designs according to customer expectations. From a scope perspective, ON Semiconductor's series of sustainable solutions covering energy production to energy consumption have become its "trump card", and the depth and breadth of its power technology are sufficient to meet market needs.
For the current strong development momentum of electric vehicles, ON Semiconductor has also provided many innovative products and solutions. Kris Casey gave an example, saying that for the electrification of automobiles, ON Semiconductor is thinking about how to help customers achieve higher energy efficiency to extend driving range and reduce charging frequency, as well as shorten charging time and improve user experience with higher power DC charging piles and efficient on-board chargers. These topics are crucial to accelerating the market's adoption of electric vehicles.
We can also get a glimpse of the products exhibited by ON Semiconductor at PCIM Asia 2024, such as: electric vehicle main drive inverter reference design based on EliteSiC technology, on-board charging solution based on EliteSiC technology, electric compressor solution based on ASPM power module, QDual3 module based on the latest seventh-generation 1200V IGBT and NCD57050 IGBT gate driver for commercial agricultural vehicles 300 kW liquid-cooled main drive solution, etc.
In addition, ON Semiconductor has also made great achievements in exploring 48V systems and body electronics. Its innovative achievements include 48V power systems with power modules, PowerTrench T10 MOSFET and electronic fuses, as well as advanced headlight control systems based on 10BASE-T1S Ethernet controllers, and brake/accelerator pedals based on innovative inductive position sensors.
Of course, ON Semiconductor's implementation of the concept of sustainable development is not limited to the electric vehicle field. It also involves many aspects, and formulates strategies around three core issues. Felicity Carson pointed out that the first is the product. Every time ON Semiconductor launches a product, it will consider the sustainable value proposition in the new product development process, and then consider the power consumption index of the product. "When we define the product, we also define the carbon footprint generated by the product and audit the entire product life cycle, including the carbon footprint generated by each link such as procurement, manufacturing, and transportation."
Secondly, in terms of operations, ON Semiconductor is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2040, meeting the standards of Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3, and achieving 50% of energy use from renewable energy by 2030. In addition, ON Semiconductor will also submit more information in many sustainability reports to help customers, investors, and employees further understand the company's commitment and efforts in ESG.
Auggie Djekic, vice president of strategic business development for ON Semiconductor's Analog and Mixed-Signal Business Group, said it is worth mentioning that from traditional artificial intelligence to data centers, to electric vehicles and industrial automation, and also including today's mobile robots, ON Semiconductor's powerful internal technology integration enables it to use the most effective solutions to process power and power-related information, and ultimately achieve sustainable system construction.

“At ON Semiconductor, we believe that what we do today can help create a better future tomorrow, and a better future requires everyone’s participation to make ON Semiconductor a sustainable company. This also further reflects our achievements in sustainable development.” said Felicity Carson.
I believe that in the near future, ON Semiconductor, with innovation as its rudder, will sail more firmly towards its sustainable development goals and paint a bright future.
