[New Product Release] Melexis Launches New High-Precision Pressure Sensor for Harsh Automotive Applications

The new MLX90818 is a factory-calibrated absolute pressure sensor with a range from 1.0 to 5.5 bar, making it ideal for use in common naturally aspirated, direct injection and turbocharged engines. This highly integrated sensor provides an external NTC signal processing channel for temperature measurement and is packaged in a small 4mm x 5mm DFN package. The MLX90818 is the smallest device to date, requiring only a few external components, making it easy for OEMs to develop small, rugged intake manifold pressure (MAP) sensors.

As the only available component solution with no exposed metal that can corrode, the device provides the best compatibility with harsh media, especially the high-concentration halogen environments found in modern engines that are smaller and lighter in weight. With an 18V overvoltage capability and operating temperature range of -40°C to +150°C, the MLX90818 is suitable for all under-the-hood applications.

With a market-leading pressure accuracy of ±0.5% to ±0.75% over its lifetime at 150°C, the device is ideally suited for use in high-precision MAP and EGR sensors, helping to significantly reduce NOx pollution emissions and global warming CO2 emissions.

The output of the MLX90818 fully complies with the J2716 Single Edge Nibble Transmission (SENT) protocol, allowing for easy and quick configuration to suit different customer needs.
