EXR debuts - an entry-level R&D oscilloscope designed for "working people"

Latest update time:2020-11-11
    Reads:

The hardships of the workers,

Those who have never worked “996” will never understand.

What makes the workers even more sad is that

The oscilloscope in the laboratory is never my turn during the day.

So we can only helplessly enjoy the blessing of “996”.

On October 14, a survey on entry-level R&D oscilloscopes was conducted on this public account in order to understand what expectations workers in the electronics industry have for the most commonly used instruments and equipment in daily life.

Thanks again to all the fans for their active participation!!!

As of now, some of the results are as follows

A

Yes, the price is acceptable.

B

No, I prefer oscilloscopes for embedded systems.

In 2020,

It is destined to be recorded in the history of mankind and even every individual.

However, Keysight Technologies is still going against the current and released the industry-leading MXR series of 8-in-1 real-time oscilloscopes with AI functions in May this year. It is like an arrow in the forest, a sprout in late winter, a banner of love for workers who dare to innovate, and a monument of contempt for the industry's unenterprising competitors!

However, for more ordinary electronic engineers in the industry, as workers, in the face of the continuous upgrading of industry and technology, they have been struggling to find a more economical and powerful entry-level Windows oscilloscope!!!

Keysight Technologies has never forgotten the working people and has been listening to the voice of the market. On November 10, it launched the economical and practical EXR series 7-in-1 oscilloscope for tens of thousands of working people worldwide:

The disciple is better than the master! EXR's "device creed" is: powerful, economical and practical, intuitive operation! "If the name is not right, the words will not flow ." In response to your voice from the industry based on the above four questionnaires, what kind of perfect answer will the latest EXR series products give:

Win10 operating system comes standard.

As the result data of the first question calls for, the EXR series directly runs the standard operation interface and programs of the Infiniium series platform. The operation is intuitive and easy to use . It not only provides the most efficient operation interface that is most in line with engineers' habits, but also facilitates future upgrades to add Windows-based consistency analysis software such as Ethernet and USB2.0.

Figure 2 Familiar systems and familiar operations never cause trouble for workers

Industry-leading vertical and horizontal timebase accuracy and high-speed sampling rates.

For the second question, 39% of the participants expressed high expectations for a high sampling rate.

What exciting performance will EXR have?

All EXR series gears and model bandwidths use real hardware 10-bit ADC, and can reach 16-bit in high-resolution mode. At the same time, it provides industry-leading horizontal time base accuracy, up to 8ppb (parts per billion), which not only provides industry-leading horizontal time parameter measurement, but also is an effective guarantee for achieving high ENOB.

What is particularly rare is that it provides a high sampling rate that is rarely matched among all products of the same level in the industry. When all channels are turned on, whether 4 channels or 8 channels, the sampling rate is as high as 16GSa/s. The total cumulative sampling capacity inside a single oscilloscope is as high as 128GSa/s , providing a sampling resolution that is far ahead of other products of the same level in the industry!!!

For the third question, the most requested functions are voltmeter, frequency meter and Bode plot analysis. The EXR series will provide the standard functions of voltmeter and frequency meter as you wish! However, real-time spectrum analysis is a relatively low priority for entry-level R&D. Therefore, in order to improve the competitiveness of the EXR series, the RTSA option function will not be provided.

In fact, as a pioneer brand in the industry in creating all-in-one function oscilloscopes, HP launched the MSO—Mixed Signal Oscilloscope as early as the 1990s; in the 21st century, Agilent launched the 3-in-1 9000 series oscilloscopes and the 6-in-1 InfiniiVision series 3000/4000/6000 series products in 2009, both of which were industry-leading products at the time.

In 2020, Keysight continued to innovate on the MXR series and launched 8-in-1 products. The EXR series is more powerful than the original , adhering to the MXR's integrated functions ---7-in-1, high integration density --up to 8 channels of 16GSa/s sampling analog channels and 16-channel MSO that can be used independently. In addition to the real-time spectrum analyzer, all other optional functions except the standard voltmeter and frequency meter support software upgrades after purchase , and the upgrade from 4 channels to 8 channels is a hardware upgrade.

Provides the most commonly used compliance test capabilities and power supply related tests.

We provide consistency tests for common low- and medium-speed standards and interfaces, such as USB2.0/Ethernet and automotive Ethernet, as well as increasingly common jitter and eye diagram tests. For power-related tests, in addition to switching power supply and power semiconductor parameter measurements, we also provide the industry's most sought-after power ripple and noise test capabilities and PMIC power-on timing measurements.

Especially for USB2.0, according to the latest USB2.0 CTS specification of USB-IF in 2019,

https://www.usb.org/document-library/usb-20-electrical-compliance-test-specification-version-107:

Figure 4 USB2.0 CTS test bandwidth requirements

EXR254/8 has a 2.5GHz bandwidth, which provides the association-recommended analog bandwidth for USB2.0 compliance testing. Many other 2GHz bandwidth products in the industry cannot meet the basic bandwidth requirements of compliance testing.

Compared with the MXR series, the EXR series is more focused on entry-level R&D applications, with a maximum bandwidth of 2.5GHz, and will be sold through global distribution channels. Compared with the MXR series, except for the lack of real-time spectrum analysis and standard storage depth of 100M points, the other configurations are exactly the same as the MXR series, especially the standard Fault Hunter function with AI function, which is the first AI function launched by Keysight in the industry, reinterpreting the simple and easy-to-use and intuitive operation characteristics of entry-level R&D oscilloscopes. For details, please refer to the related reading link at the end of the article - "Fault Hunter adds AI wings to MXR's general signal debugging applications" - Therefore, the EXR pricing is more competitive than the MXR, which will make it easier for electronic engineers to own a real-time oscilloscope on Windows system! ! !

EXR series Powerful Anything you can do,

Economical and practical Good and not expensive,

Let “working people” dare to think!

"Workers", it's "Double 11"

It's time to tell your PM , boss and buyers

Shout out your voice!
