Organized by Tsinghua University Suzhou Automotive Research Institute and led by Suzhou Ruidi Measurement and Control Technology Co., Ltd. , the T/CAAMTB 15-2020 "Automotive Millimeter-wave Radar Test Method" group standard was officially released and implemented in August last year. The standard was proposed and managed by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. This standard specifies the test conditions, test requirements and test methods for automotive millimeter-wave radar testing.

Purpose and significance of setting standards

Vehicle-mounted millimeter-wave radar is a key component of the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Against the backdrop of the rapid development of intelligent connected vehicles, vehicle-mounted millimeter-wave radar plays an important role in the realization of autonomous driving technology, and its application prospects and market space are very broad. In recent years, millimeter-wave radar has been widely used in ADAS systems of intelligent connected vehicles due to its advantages of low cost, high reliability, and little impact from weather.

As a core sensor, the testing of millimeter-wave radar's functions and performance indicators is of great significance to ensure the safety and reliability of intelligent connected vehicles, but there is no standard for vehicle-mounted millimeter-wave radar test methods in my country. The formulation of this standard aims to fill this gap, clarify the test requirements for various functions and performance of millimeter-wave radars, standardize the test methods of millimeter-wave radars, provide effective references for the industry, and promote industry development.
