Shaping the future of automotive lighting: ams OSRAM launches ALIYOS™ LED-on-foil technology
ALIYOS™ technology breaks through the boundaries of multi-block luminescence, while achieving personalized luminous surface shaping;
The transparent, thin, and 2.5D curved product features allow customers to create new lighting effects and achieve personalized lighting solutions;
ALIYOS™ technology can flexibly achieve the brightness requirements of rear combination lamp regulations;
ALIYOS™ LED-on-foil technology can realize block-based and personalized design in different lamp shapes, such as 3D lighting effects, hidden light sources on free-form surfaces, etc.
ALIYOS™ lighting technology once again confirms ams Osram’s leading position in automotive lighting innovation.
ams Osram (SIX Swiss Exchange: AMS), a leading global supplier of optical solutions, recently announced that its ALIYOS™ LED-on-foil technology brings a new dimension of freedom and creativity to the design of automotive lighting.
Applying ALIYOS™ technology to exterior and interior lighting allows automakers to express their brand personality like never before, using new 3D effects and animations to display dynamic, personalized information to drivers and other road users.

High transparency is a prominent feature of ALIYOS™ technology. Thanks to mini-LED light source technology, ALIYOS™ products are highly adaptable. In addition, multiple ALIYOS™ products can be stacked front and back to design new 3D luminous shapes and dynamic effects.
ams is currently working with leading Tier 1 suppliers and automakers worldwide to explore new potential in automotive interior and exterior lighting. A demo of a rear combination lamp from ams is showing how transparent substrates can be stacked on top of each other to create a 3D depth effect using ALIYOS™ technology.
Another product design approach is to combine ALIYOS™ with the curved surface material of the vehicle body, which will "shine brightly" when lit and form a hidden light source design when turned off.

Thanks to the unique high transparency, thinness and flexibility of ALIYOS™ technology, it provides more new design possibilities for automakers. By applying ALIYOS™ technology, various regulatory functional requirements can be met, such as the brightness requirements for taillights, brake lights and turn signals in European Standard Regulation No. 148.
ALIYOS™ technology has initially entered the industrialization stage. The goal is to achieve automotive-grade quality control and mass production on the first model by the end of 2025.
ams Osram launched the ALIYOS™ technology at the 2023 Symposium on Automotive Lighting (ISAL) in Darmstadt, Germany, September 25-27.
