Major OEMs and component manufacturers, including Amphenol ICC, are collaborating to help data center designers break down silos and move toward open source.
The Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP) recognizes and publicly releases data center designs from its member OEMs (such as Facebook and Microsoft) for suppliers who are constantly pursuing higher quality to serve their customers. Servers, storage, network and power equipment all have individual open source designs, and customers with multiple suppliers can benefit from standardized designs. Network switches and servers from different manufacturers can interoperate and manage without any obstacles.
OCP is supported by the Open Data Center Alliance (ODCA), a coalition of the world's top industrial and financial giants. In addition, independent alliances such as Open19 , led by LinkedIn and the Open Data Center Committee ( ODCC ) , including several Chinese IT giants, are also working together to develop standard data center infrastructure.
Amphenol ICC's OCP solutions outperform competing products, and most public design proposals use our signature products as a benchmark. The most popular ones include:
Our Paladin ® and ExaMAX ® high-speed backplane connectors, 0.8 mm BergStak+™
and Meg-Array® mezzanine connectors are references for open design documentation for server blades, motherboards, and storage expansion boards in various cloud computing platforms.
Power supplies and power distribution units for network switches and server platforms using our eHPCE ® and Mini Cool Edge power card edge products take advantage of the integrated card edge connector.
The Open Rack Version 2 power supply specification envisions an energy-efficient 48V small form factor rack, including backplane and rack, and uses our popular PwrBlade ® connector.
The BarKlip ® BK200 I/O facilitates current distribution up to 200A between busbars, cables and circuit boards. Screw-mount construction complies with OCP specifications; slide-lock construction is suitable for OCP.
We are the only supplier of Open19 power cables. It is based on CoolPower ® SDM and can carry up to 35A per rack. In an open19, 19" system, there are 4 power cables, 2 switching power cables and 48 server connectors per system.
