ePlanet : Please introduce your company's strategic planning and market layout in the field of autonomous driving and new energy vehicles in 2019. What are the main considerations for formulating this strategic layout?

Johnson: As a global leading interconnection solution manufacturer, Amphenol provides comprehensive end-to-end interconnection solutions in the fields of autonomous driving and new energy. Including HSD/HSC high-speed interconnection solutions in mainstream LVDS scenarios, mainly solving the current interconnection between car audio and video systems, surround cameras, high-definition instruments and multiple car hosts. At the same time, facing the large-scale application of data streams in automobiles under the wave of autonomous driving, our company provides the next generation of automotive Ethernet dedicated interconnection solutions. In the field of new energy, our company provides comprehensive solutions in the three-electric field, high voltage and low voltage.

ePlanet: At this stage, autonomous driving has entered a period of calm development. Many people believe that relying solely on the "single-vehicle intelligence" approach to innovate cars will not achieve ultimate driverless driving for a long time. In your opinion, what technologies need to be focused on to achieve a higher level of autonomous driving?

Johnson: Autonomous driving is still in the exploratory stage at this stage. Whether in terms of chip solutions, autonomous driving modules, industrial chain supporting facilities, market applications and other aspects, this is a long process. However, the trend cannot be stopped. Under the premise of perfect 5G underlying infrastructure, the interconnection between cars, cars and people, and even cars and everything else has sufficient underlying implementation conditions. What remains is the breakthrough of key technical solutions such as electronic devices inside the autonomous driving body (mainly chip solutions), key modules such as ADAS, XCU, GATEWAY, and high-speed interconnection solutions based on Ethernet protocols.
