❸Scientists use artificial intelligence to discover the smallest planet to date that is closest to its host star
An international team led by Professor Ge Jian of the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has recently innovated a deep learning algorithm that combines GPU phase folding and convolutional neural networks, and successfully discovered five ultra-short-period planets with diameters smaller than the Earth and orbital periods shorter than 1 day in the star photometry data released by Kepler in 2017. Four of them are the smallest planets closest to their host stars discovered so far, similar in size to Mars. (Cailian News)
