I just did a quick check on the author. Tian Minbo is a professor at the Department of Materials Science at Tsinghua University. He was admitted to Tsinghua in 1964 and became a graduate student at Tsinghua in 1978. Judging from the time of his admission, he is definitely a top student. He has also visited Japan for academic exchanges many times. He has written the textbook "Fundamentals of Materials Science" and taught this course at Tsinghua for many years, and it has been awarded the title of excellent course. Looking at his professional experience, it seems that he is good at thin-film materials and technologies (the core of flat-panel displays, and also related to IC manufacturing), and his professional ability is naturally beyond doubt.
